Adam Scott has revealed that he is aware of the direction ‘Severance’ is taking, including how the story will ultimately conclude.

As one of the executive producers on the Apple TV+ series, Scott is actively involved in discussions with the writers, including creator Dan Erickson. He emphasized his close connection to the writing process and his desire to stay fully informed about the storyline.

Scott expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming season, stating, “It’s going to be great. There are so many surprises. I can’t wait to shoot it,” showcasing his eagerness for what lies ahead.

He also confirmed that Ben Stiller will not be directing this season, although Stiller remains significantly involved with the project. Scott noted that the cast and crew are excited to reunite after a lengthy hiatus, having not worked together for over two years, and everyone is looking forward to reconnecting.

Reflecting on his career, Scott mentioned how pivotal ‘Severance’ has been for him. He feels that this role is something he has been working towards for a long time, and he shared that securing the part required effort, as the production team wanted to ensure he was the right fit for such a significant project.

Looking back, Scott said he only had to audition once for ‘Severance’, joking that too many auditions can sometimes complicate things rather than simplify them.

Before ‘Severance’, Scott aimed to transition away from purely comedic roles following ‘Parks and Recreation’. He sought more dramatic opportunities, mentioning his strong desire to join ‘Big Little Lies’, which required multiple auditions to prove his suitability.

He described ‘Severance’ as a unique opportunity due to its unconventional narrative and intricate character development. In his view, it represents a complete and challenging role that synthesizes everything he has learned throughout his career.

Scott also discussed the well-known “transition” scenes in the series, where his character shifts between different mental states. He noted that achieving a natural feel for these moments required extensive testing and practice, with the team experimenting multiple times before finalizing the effective version.

Outside of ‘Severance’, Scott shared insights about his recent work in horror, particularly in the film ‘Hokum’, which he described as genuinely frightening. He expressed his appreciation for horror films that not only deliver scares but also tell compelling stories.

He reflected on how ‘Severance’ has resonated with audiences, gaining traction during a period when many were adapting to changes in work and daily life. Scott believes the series connects with viewers by blending a bizarre concept with authentic emotional themes.

Scott emphasized that mystery plays a crucial role in the show’s allure, suggesting that not everything needs to be explained, and leaving room for audience interpretation enhances the viewing experience.

At the conclusion of the interview, Scott expressed confidence about not being typecast due to ‘Severance’, feeling that the complexity of his role allows for diverse opportunities in the future.

Currently, Adam Scott is being honored at Canneseries, where he is receiving the Canal+ Icon Award, marking another significant milestone in his career.

It will be intriguing to see how the series progresses now that Scott is aware of its ending. Do you believe that keeping the conclusion a secret enhances the series, or should viewers be privy to more information? Share your thoughts in the comments.
