Chet Hanks is currently living in a trailer park in Nashville, but the reason behind it is much simpler than many might expect.

The 35-year-old son of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson discussed his living situation during an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’. He explained that his move was tied to his focus on music, as he is based in Nashville working on his country project with his band Something Out West.

Instead of renting a traditional place, Chet opted to stay in a Jayco Eagle RV. He mentioned that he wanted to avoid the hassle of setting up another home after recently purchasing and furnishing a condo in Los Angeles. “I didn’t want to get an apartment because I literally just got a condo in L.A. and I furnished it,” he shared. “I didn’t want to do that again, and I didn’t want to furnish it.”

Before moving into the trailer, he experimented with rentals and hotels, but that arrangement didn’t last long. It became exhausting, prompting him to seek something more comfortable and personal. After spending time in an Airstream during a trip, he realized that setup suited him well. “It had everything you need,” he noted.

Chet also expressed his appreciation for the independence that comes with living in an RV. “I just like having my own space,” he stated, adding that having a kitchen and a proper shower significantly improved his living experience.

He spoke about the community around him, noting that the trailer park is primarily inhabited by older residents, making him one of the youngest there. Nonetheless, he had only positive remarks about the community, describing the retirees as “great people.”

The move appears to be beneficial so far. Chet recently performed at the Stagecoach Festival, marking only his second live show with the band. He admitted to feeling nervous but emphasized that the moment was significant for him, especially with his father in the crowd supporting him.

For now, Chet is focused on advancing his music career, and living in a trailer park in Nashville is simply part of that journey.
