Netflix Unveils Trailer for Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano MMA Event
Most Valuable Promotions has unveiled the official trailer for its inaugural MMA event, headlined by the highly anticipated matchup between Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano. Scheduled for May 16 at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, the event will be streamed live on Netflix.
The one-minute trailer showcases highlights from the full fight card, prominently featuring the main event between Rousey and Carano, both of whom are making their returns to MMA after lengthy absences. Rousey last competed in 2016, while Carano has been out of the ring since 2009.
The fight card boasts other notable names in combat sports, including Francis Ngannou, who will face Philipe Lins, and Nate Diaz, who is set to take on Mike Perry. These matchups enhance the event’s appeal, which is being marketed as a significant crossover night for MMA.
Additional fights on the lineup include Salahdine Parnasse vs. Kenneth Cross and Junior dos Santos vs. Robelis Despaigne. Fans can also look forward to preliminary matchups featuring Muhammad Mokaev vs. Adriano Moraes and Jason Jackson vs. Jeff Creighton, among others.
According to details shared in the trailer and promotional materials from Most Valuable Promotions, this event features fighters from various backgrounds, including UFC veterans, PFL competitors, and BKFC fighters. Notably, Francis Ngannou will make his debut in an MVP MMA cage after his stint in the PFL.
The trailer emphasizes the theme of high-profile comebacks and crossover fights. It also ties into a separate Netflix special titled Countdown: Rousey vs. Carano, narrated by Uma Thurman, which provides fans with an inside look at the training camps of both fighters.
The special is expected to feature commentary from MVP co-founders Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian, along with insights from combat sports journalist Ariel Helwani.
Rousey vs. Carano remains the focal point of the event, marking both fighters’ return to active MMA competition after over a decade away.
