Meet Kitty From ‘Euphoria’: The Star With a Notable Artistic Legacy
The latest season of ‘Euphoria’ continues to evoke strong reactions, with each new episode delivering intense moments and fresh characters. The show has consistently blended heavy themes with personal narratives, and season 3 is no exception.
In episode 4, titled “Kitty Likes to Dance,” viewers are introduced to a new character named Kitty, portrayed by Anna Van Patten. Her performance quickly captures attention. Kitty is a dancer at a strip club called the Silver Stripper, and her storyline adds a darker element to the episode. Through Rue Bennett’s perspective, played by Zendaya, the audience senses that something is amiss, despite Kitty’s attempts to appear fine.
Anna Van Patten’s name may ring a bell, and there’s a good reason for that. She hails from a prominent acting family. Her sister, Grace Van Patten, starred in the series ‘Tell Me Lies.’ Their father, Timothy Van Patten, has contributed to major shows like ‘Game of Thrones,’ ‘The Sopranos,’ and ‘The Wire.’ Additionally, her late uncle, Dick Van Patten, was a well-known figure on television for many years.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Anna shared her experiences growing up in such an environment. She fondly recalled her uncle, describing him as “just so fun” and “larger than life.” She also mentioned how her father continues to assist her with auditions. “I’ve auditioned for my dad’s shows — I auditioned for a part on ‘Boardwalk Empire.’ But I just wasn’t right for it. But my dad helps me with my audition tapes all the time.”
Her role in ‘Euphoria’ is far from easy. The episode portrays a challenging situation involving Kitty, leaving a significant impact. Anna admitted that filming those scenes was tough. “It was sad and dark, but it serves a purpose in the greater story. Luckily, I had so many people there to support me through it,” she told The Hollywood Reporter.
The storyline also ties into Rue’s journey. Even as Rue strives to stay on a better path, she remains surrounded by perilous situations. Watching Kitty’s experiences through security footage reveals that her environment has not changed. However, Kitty’s reluctance to open up when asked about her well-being adds to the discomfort of the moment.
Season 3 has already polarized viewers, with some feeling the show differs from earlier seasons. Nonetheless, performances like Anna Van Patten’s remind audiences why the series continues to garner attention. Her new role adds another layer to the narrative, highlighting the complexity and heaviness of this world.
