Netflix’s ‘Worst Ex Ever’ Season 2 Premiere Features Chilling True Story of Florida ‘Deadpool Killer’
True crime content has firmly established its place on Netflix, and the streaming giant continues to expand its offerings. From multi-part docuseries to single-episode explorations, the platform caters to an audience eager for real-world cases presented with cinematic flair, emotional depth, and unflinching honesty.
A spinoff of Netflix’s ‘Worst Roommate Ever’, ‘Worst Ex Ever’ first premiered in 2024 and delves into the darker aspects of love, focusing on relationships that became manipulative, controlling, and even deadly. Its return has been one of the most anticipated true crime events of the spring.
Blumhouse Production and ITV America’s true-crime docuseries ‘Worst Ex Ever’ has launched its second season on Netflix, featuring a new array of stories across four hour-long episodes. Each episode is narrated from the survivors’ perspectives and includes animated reenactments, body cam footage, police interviews, and a revealing look at how love can conceal deceit, betrayal, and violence. Director Cynthia Childs returns for the second season, alongside executive producers Jason Blum, Gretchen Palek, and Jordana Hochman, with co-executive producer Natalee Watts.
The season opener is already generating buzz among viewers. Season 2 of ‘Worst Ex Ever’ kicks off with a feature-length episode about the individual who became known as the “Deadpool Killer,” a nickname derived from his name, Wade Wilson, which coincidentally matches that of the Marvel character portrayed by Ryan Reynolds in several film adaptations. This season also includes a remarkable breakthrough in a 2011 cold case, a kidnapping and hostage situation, and a reality star from ’90 Day Fiancé’.
Wade Wilson was convicted of the October 2019 murders of 35-year-old Kristine Melton and 43-year-old Diane Ruiz. His violent spree began on October 7, 2019, when he visited a local bar with his girlfriend. Later, he went to Melton’s residence, where he strangled her in her bed, stole her car, and fled. Hours later, he encountered Ruiz, who asked him for directions, lured her into his vehicle, strangled her, and subsequently ran her over.
Circuit Judge Nicholas Thompson remarked during sentencing that “the evidence shows the murders were heinous, atrocious and cruel, and that the second murder was cold, calculated and premeditated.” The jury, which convicted him on June 12 of the murders and additional charges, recommended the death penalty with votes of 9-3 and 10-2 for each victim. As of May 2026, he is serving his sentence at the Union Correctional Institution in Raiford, Florida.
‘Worst Ex Ever’ returns for Season 2 with gripping testimonials, shocking bodycam footage, and vivid animated reenactments that bring harrowing tales of betrayal, violence, and deceit to life. The series exposes some of the most monstrous relationships and exes imaginable, highlighting warning signs such as isolation, control, hidden criminal records, and sudden violence that can surface in seemingly normal dating scenarios. For viewers who enjoyed the first season, the format feels both familiar and unsettlingly fresh.
The first season was captivating and well-paced, serving as a cautionary tale for the modern era, reminding us that in a world of situationships, the worst-case scenario can be far darker than a “read” receipt. Season 2 elevates the stakes, leading with one of the most bizarre and disturbing cases in recent Florida crime history, compelling viewers to stay engaged.
