‘Percy Jackson & the Olympians’ is set to expand with an exciting new spin-off book series centered around Camp Half-Blood.

Titled ‘Camp Half-Blood’, the first book will be named The Wild Zone, scheduled for release on September 29. Rick Riordan is co-writing this inaugural book alongside Annabelle Oh, with subsequent books featuring different co-authors. The second, third, and fourth installments will be penned by Kyle Lukoff, Jada Adia, and Pablo Cartaya, releasing every six months following the debut.

These stories are set between the events of The Lightning Thief and The Sea of Monsters, the first two books in the original ‘Percy Jackson’ series. They will introduce new demigods arriving at Camp Half-Blood, where mysterious occurrences lead to campers going missing. Notably, the main character, Percy Jackson, will not appear in these new narratives.

The first book, The Wild Zone, focuses on Katie Kim, a daughter of Ares. According to Riordan’s description on his website, Katie harbors a dangerous secret and stumbles upon a restricted area of the camp known as the Wild Zone. The following books will spotlight different characters, including Harper Rush, the son of Aphrodite, Zuri Chapman, the daughter of Apollo, and Benny Garcia, an unclaimed demigod.

Riordan explained his choice to collaborate with multiple co-authors, aiming to authentically reflect the diverse backgrounds of the characters. He stated, “These four campers all came from very different backgrounds. So I thought it would be cool if I found four authors who shared those backgrounds and could write the demigods’ stories in a way that felt more real and true.” This insight was shared in Riordan’s official announcement.

He emphasized that all writers contributed equally to the project, saying, “We shared the work equally. We split the money equally. Equal billing, equal credit.”

While this new series operates independently from the main books, Disney has already taken steps toward a potential television adaptation. Riordan announced that the ‘Camp Half-Blood’ series has been optioned by Disney+ for a possible TV project. However, he cautioned that this does not guarantee production, as many optioned works do not transition to screen.

This announcement coincides with the growing popularity of the ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ TV adaptation. The series, based on Riordan’s novels, has released two seasons on Disney+, with a third season anticipated in late 2026. It is praised for being a more faithful representation of the original books compared to earlier film adaptations by 20th Century Fox.

Riordan also confirmed that he is still working on the final book in his Senior Year Adventures trilogy. He mentioned that the new ‘Camp Half-Blood’ project has delayed its completion, but he intends to finish it after this spin-off series wraps up. He added, “As soon as work on Camp Half-Blood is wrapped, I’ll go back to writing the third senior year adventure.”

The author indicated that the upcoming book will likely mark Percy Jackson’s final main-narrated adventure, suggesting it is time for the character to step back from the limelight.

For now, fans can look forward to the first ‘Camp Half-Blood’ book, The Wild Zone, arriving in September, while the TV series continues to expand the ‘Percy Jackson’ universe on screen.
