In the latest episode of ‘The Boys’ Season 5, fans were treated to a brief return of characters from the spin-off ‘Gen V’.

Marie Moreau and Jordan Li made a short cameo while interacting with Starlight and Mother’s Milk. Their appearance is minimal, lasting just a few minutes.

During their scene, Marie and Jordan provide an update about the situation with “Oh Father” at Vought Studios. However, the conversation quickly concludes when Annie, known as Starlight, tells them to leave and hide, asserting that she no longer needs their assistance, pointing out that Marie cannot control her powers.

This moment has led many viewers to speculate that it might be the last time the ‘Gen V’ characters appear in the main series. With only one episode remaining in the season, there is no confirmation of their return.

At one point, fans speculated that Marie could play a significant role in the fight against Homelander. In ‘Gen V’, she was portrayed as one of the most powerful new Supes, possessing blood manipulation abilities that set her apart. However, this notion is directly challenged in the episode.

Mother’s Milk even comments on her supposed strength, saying, “I heard that you’re like the chosen one and have Homelander-level strength or some shit,” to which Marie replies, “Well, reports of my awesomeness have been greatly exaggerated.”

According to discussions on Reddit and various entertainment reports, many viewers expressed disappointment over the brevity of the appearance. Some felt that Marie’s storyline had been built up for a more substantial role, only to conclude in a fleeting scene.

One fan reaction shared online stated, “What was the point of all the ‘Gen V’ hype around Marie being potentially as strong as Homelander? They spent seasons building her up as this unique blood-manipulating powerhouse from the Odessa Project only for her to get barely any screen time in the finale. Feels like massive wasted potential.”

Other viewers had a different take, suggesting that the scene felt intentional and somewhat meta. One comment noted, “Lol the ‘Gen V’ characters being so disappointed to their storyline abruptly ending is probably how the actors felt.” Another viewer remarked, “It was almost prophetic to how we all feel about it, kind of spooked me a bit lmao.”

There is also growing concern among fans due to reports indicating that ‘Gen V’ has been canceled. However, showrunner Eric Kripke has hinted that the characters could still appear in future projects, although nothing has been officially confirmed.

With just one episode left in ‘The Boys’ Season 5, the narrative is approaching its final resolution. The season finale is anticipated to wrap up the main conflict, but it remains uncertain whether any of the ‘Gen V’ characters will make another appearance before the series concludes.
