Eric Kripke May Have Spoiled Soldier Boy’s Fate in ‘The Boys’ Finale
As ‘The Boys’ approaches its final episode, fans are eager to understand how each major character will contribute to the conclusion. A significant question has lingered since Soldier Boy’s return this season. Recent comments from creator Eric Kripke may have inadvertently disclosed what happens to Jensen Ackles’ character before the finale airs.
In the latest episode of the Prime Video series, Homelander revealed his true intentions after assassinating the President of the United States and fully embracing his god complex. Amid the turmoil, Soldier Boy made it clear he wanted no part in Homelander’s vision for the future. Instead of aligning with him, he insulted his own son and attempted to walk away. This quickly escalated when Homelander attacked him, putting him back into stasis.
After the episode aired, Kripke spoke with Collider about a particular line from Soldier Boy. Fans noted the character’s mention of “fixing up the old Impala,” which was interpreted as a nod to ‘Supernatural,’ the long-running series Kripke created alongside Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins.
Kripke confirmed that the reference was intentional. However, while discussing the scene, he may have revealed something more significant. “Knowing that that was going to be Jensen’s last scene in the series, we wanted to put in one last reference,” Kripke explained. He also mentioned that the line initially referred to a Ford before being changed during editing. “Phil was like, ‘Should it be ‘Impala’?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, it probably should be ‘Impala.’”
This comment sparked discussions among fans online, as it strongly implies that Soldier Boy will not return in the finale. Until now, many viewers speculated that ‘The Boys’ or even Homelander could awaken him one last time for a climactic showdown. Kripke’s statement seems to put that theory to rest.
Nonetheless, some fans believe the showrunner might be concealing something. ‘The Boys’ has delivered surprises in the past, and there remains a possibility that Soldier Boy could appear in a post-credits scene or another hidden moment. For now, however, Kripke’s remarks suggest that episode seven served as the character’s final farewell.

Kripke also recently shared insights about the pressure of concluding a series as monumental as ‘The Boys.’ In a discussion on Sony’s “Creator to Creator” podcast, he expressed his anxiety about delivering a satisfying finale. “I am in a fair amount of terror about a series finale,” he admitted. “The graveyard is literally filled with terrible series finales.”
He elaborated that crafting a strong conclusion involves tying together storylines from previous seasons to ensure everything feels significant in the end. Kripke even mentioned that he drew inspiration from the writers of ‘Breaking Bad’ while preparing for the final season. “We had just a list of loose ends on our board,” he recalled them saying. “And then when it came time to do the final season, we would just start checking them off.”
The ‘The Boys’ finale is just around the corner, and fans are left wondering if Kripke truly revealed Soldier Boy’s fate prematurely or if another twist awaits.
