Creators of ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ Confirm Series Ending After Season 5
Netflix has officially announced that The Lincoln Lawyer will conclude after its fifth season. This confirmation came on Wednesday through a statement from the streaming service. The legal drama has consistently performed well, attracting strong viewership since its launch.
Production for the fifth season is currently in progress in Los Angeles. Netflix had renewed the series for this final season just a week before the premiere of season 4 in February, and it has now been confirmed that this upcoming installment will mark the end of the series.
This decision aligns with a broader trend at Netflix, where several long-standing shows are reaching their conclusions. Earlier in May, Netflix also revealed that The Night Agent would conclude with its fourth season, indicating a shift towards planned endings for major titles on the platform.
Based on Michael Connelly’s bestselling novels, The Lincoln Lawyer centers on defense attorney Mickey Haller, portrayed by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. The series intricately weaves Haller’s cases, personal life, and the ethical dilemmas of the legal system into its narrative.
The final season will adapt Resurrection Walk, the seventh book in the series. This storyline will introduce a significant new character, Emi, Mickey’s previously unknown half-sister, played by Cobie Smulders. Emi approaches Mickey with a case involving a wrongfully convicted woman, seeking his assistance in securing her release.
In addition to Garcia-Rulfo and Smulders, the cast includes Becki Newton, Angus Sampson, and Jazz Raycole. The final season will also see new faces such as Amy Aquino, Angela Trimbur, Elpidia Carrillo, Nate Corddry, Tricia Helfer, and Keir O’Donnell. Returning guest stars will feature Neve Campbell, Krista Warner, Angelica Maria, and Gigi Zumbado.

Co-showrunners Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez shared their thoughts on the series conclusion in a joint statement. “All good things must come to an end, but thankfully sometimes how they come to an end is up to us,” they remarked. They emphasized that their aim from the start was to not only tell Mickey Haller’s story but also to provide it with a fitting conclusion. They described the ending as bittersweet yet an opportunity to thoughtfully conclude character arcs.
They expressed gratitude to Netflix and A+E Studios for the chance to finish the story as intended. “We are immensely grateful to Netflix and A+E Studios for the opportunity to land this plane the right way,” they said, adding that they are dedicated to crafting a satisfying finale for fans.
The series has consistently maintained strong viewership. Season 4 spent four weeks in Netflix’s global top 10 for English-language series, amassing 26.4 million views during that period. In the U.S., it also excelled on Nielsen’s streaming rankings, peaking at 2.54 billion minutes watched during its most successful week.
The Lincoln Lawyer is produced by A+E Studios, with David E. Kelley as the creator for television. Ted Humphrey developed the series and serves as co-showrunner alongside Dailyn Rodriguez. Michael Connelly, the author of the original novels, also serves as an executive producer.
With season 5 confirmed as the final chapter, the series is set to conclude Mickey Haller’s journey and bring its long-running legal drama to a close.
