Disney has officially announced the next installment in its beloved musical fantasy franchise with the reveal of ‘ZOMBIES 5: Secrets of the Sea.’ This exciting news comes as the film is set to continue the storyline established in the previous films.

The upcoming movie picks up after the events of ‘ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires,’ where the fragile peace between Daywalkers and Vampires faces new challenges. The narrative takes an intriguing twist with the arrival of a group of mermaids in Rayburn.

Their presence creates tension, as they utilize a powerful siren song to sway others and forge new alliances. Nova and Victor must rise to the occasion, uniting their groups once more to uncover the mermaids’ true intentions before their world is thrown into chaos.

Disney has confirmed that production is already underway in New Zealand, with the film set to premiere in 2027 on both Disney+ and the Disney Channel.

The cast will feature several familiar faces. Malachi Barton returns as Victor, while Freya Skye reprises her role as Nova. Longtime stars Milo Manheim and Meg Donnelly are also back, this time serving as executive producers. Trevor Tordjman will return as Bucky, joined by other returning cast members including Swayam Bhatia, Julian Lerner, and Mekonnen Knife.

New characters will be introduced in this installment, particularly the mermaid trio who play a significant role in the plot. Diaana Babnicova joins as Pearl, Taylor Oliver as Fin, and Olive Mortimer as Sandy. Emily Costtrici will also appear as Izzy, described as Zed’s zombie cousin and a new student at the school.

The production team includes returning producers Jane Fleming, Mark Ordesky, Joseph Raso, and David Light, alongside Skot Bright. Milo Manheim and Meg Donnelly are also contributing behind the scenes as executive producers. Audiences can expect new dance sequences choreographed by Dondraico Johnson, with music composed by Tom Howe.

The screenplay is crafted by writers Chris Hazzard, Michael Fontana, and Eydie Faye.

According to Disney, all previous ‘ZOMBIES’ films, along with related series and shorts, are currently available for streaming on Disney+.
