‘Yellowstone’ Spin-Off Starring Matthew McConaughey Still Alive According to Cole Hauser

The long-anticipated spin-off series related to ‘Yellowstone’ and featuring Matthew McConaughey is not officially dead, as revealed by actor Cole Hauser in a recent interview with The Playlist. This update comes amidst ongoing fan speculation regarding the future of the project.

Previously, McConaughey was associated with a modern expansion of the ‘Yellowstone’ universe. Early reports indicated that Hauser might also be involved, but those plans never materialized. Since then, fans have been confused about whether various spin-offs were connected or stemmed from the same concept.

Hauser clarified some of that confusion during the interview. He noted that the project he worked on, which eventually became ‘Dutton Ranch’, was distinct from the McConaughey spin-off. He stated, “No. Dutton was a one-off to its own,” emphasizing that the two were separate developments.

He also discussed his friendship with McConaughey and how they have exchanged ideas over the years, but not in relation to the same project. He mentioned, “I know what you’re talking about. I’m friends with Matthew, so we had a little dialogue along the way years ago, but it had nothing to do with that.”

According to Hauser, his own project aimed to explore new interpretations of familiar characters within the ‘Yellowstone’ universe, albeit with a different creative vision. His remarks imply that McConaughey’s spin-off concept was always being developed independently, even if both ideas were conceived around the same time.

While the series led by McConaughey has yet to officially progress, it has not been completely dismissed either. Previous industry reports and announcements have linked the actor to a potential continuation or expansion of the franchise, but no definitive production decision has been made.

Meanwhile, Hauser is collaborating with McConaughey on a different project titled Arena, created by writer Nic Pizzolatto. This series will follow two brothers coaching college sports, marking a departure from the Western themes of ‘Yellowstone’.

McConaughey is also involved in various upcoming film projects outside the franchise, showcasing his versatility across different genres. Nonetheless, ‘Yellowstone’ fans are eagerly awaiting any news regarding his potential return to the universe.

At this point, the spin-off remains in a state of uncertainty, with no official cancellation or start of production announced.
