The future of the ‘The Boys’ universe continues to evolve, even after the conclusion of the main series and the end of ‘Gen V’ after two seasons. Creator Eric Kripke has indicated that there is still much to explore, particularly regarding the younger characters introduced in ‘Gen V’.

In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Kripke expressed his belief that there is unfinished business with these characters. He stated, “The Gen V kids… I’d love to continue that story. I think we have left money on the table. There’s more there in terms of how those characters can evolve into fully realized heroes.” His remarks imply that despite the show’s current hiatus, the creative team remains interested in the potential journeys of these characters.

Kripke clarified that the decision to cancel ‘Gen V’ was not his own, attributing the show’s end to viewership numbers. He mentioned, “Ultimately, there were just not enough viewers to justify the expense in Amazon’s eyes. It just came down to that. I tried. I really tried hard. I am bummed, for sure.” His words reflect clear disappointment, especially since he had envisioned further development for the storyline.

Despite this setback, Kripke mentioned that he is still collaborating with writers from ‘The Boys’ and other spin-off projects like ‘Vought Rising’. He emphasized that any future ideas will only proceed if they feel distinct from ‘The Boys’ and stem from genuine passion. As he noted, “We will only do them if one, they are totally different from The Boys. Two, if somebody is really passionate about it and it’s not just a piece of commerce, if it’s idiosyncratic and weirdly shaped and something somebody loves. I know that makes a difference.”

Regarding characters from ‘The Boys’, Kripke believes their primary arcs are largely complete. While there is always a possibility for small appearances or cameos, their full narratives are mostly resolved. This leaves future crossovers uncertain, although projects like a potential Mexican spin-off or ‘Vought Rising’ could still allow for brief appearances.

Even with cancellations and conclusions, the world of ‘The Boys’ remains open. According to Kripke, there is still potential for new stories, provided they feel fresh and distinct from what has already been explored.
