Carmen Electra Hints at Possible Return to ‘Baywatch’ and ‘Playboy’
Carmen Electra is hinting at a potential return to both ‘Baywatch’ and Playboy, during her recent appearance at an event in Los Angeles.
Electra made these remarks while leaving The Abbey’s 35th anniversary party, where she turned heads in a Playboy Bunny outfit, attracting attention from fans and media alike.
When questioned about her future endeavors, she expressed her willingness to appear in Playboy again. This statement ignited a flurry of reactions online, as Electra was one of the magazine’s most iconic stars in its history.
She also shared her thoughts on ‘Baywatch’, the series that significantly shaped her early career and catapulted her to global fame in the 1990s. Electra indicated that she might be open to a return if the anticipated reboot progresses.
She mentioned her curiosity about how the new version will unfold and whether it can cultivate a new generation of stars akin to the original series. Her comments have drawn additional attention to the reboot, which has been in development for several years.
The ‘Baywatch’ reboot has experienced a lengthy production journey. As reported by Deadline Hollywood and other entertainment sources, discussions about reviving the show began in 2018, when FremantleMedia International started exploring the concept.
By 2023, Fremantle had officially entered early development and initiated talks with broadcasters and streaming platforms. In 2024, Fox Entertainment joined the project, with writer and showrunner Lara Olsen set to lead the series.
In 2025, Fox greenlit the reboot for a 12-episode order, aiming for it to premiere in the 2026–27 television season. The production also benefited from California’s film and TV tax credit program, which assisted in securing financing for filming.
Casting announcements have continued into 2026, with actor Stephen Amell confirmed to play an adult version of Hobie Buchannon, a character linked to the original series. Original cast member David Chokachi is also returning as Cody Madison.
New cast members include Shay Mitchell, Hassie Harrison, Noah Beck, and Brooks Nader, while former cast member Erika Eleniak is also set to reprise her role as Shauni McClain.
The reboot aims to blend familiar and new characters, seeking to engage longtime fans while introducing the story to a younger audience.
Electra’s comments have heightened interest in the project, especially given her status as one of the original show’s most beloved stars. Although she did not confirm any official involvement, her teasing remarks have already sparked speculation about a possible cameo or return.
As of now, neither Fox nor Fremantle has confirmed Electra’s participation in the reboot.
