Eric Kripke Reveals Shocking Truth About The Octopus That Killed The Deep in ‘The Boys’

Showrunner Eric Kripke has unveiled a surprising detail regarding one of the most peculiar storylines in ‘The Boys’. He confirmed that the octopus responsible for killing The Deep is actually related to Ambrosius, the intelligent octopus he was compelled to eat earlier in the series.

This revelation was shared during behind-the-scenes commentary about the show’s writing decisions. Kripke clarified that these two characters are not merely random sea creatures in The Deep’s narrative, but part of a tragic and interconnected family lineage.

This new information reframes one of the series’ most unsettling and darkly comedic moments. The show introduced Ambrosius, a highly intelligent octopus who develops a complex emotional bond with The Deep. Voiced by Tilda Swinton, Ambrosius resides in a tank within The Deep’s home, attempting to persuade him to abandon his toxic life with Vought and escape to the ocean.

Tragically, their relationship culminates in sorrow as The Deep continues to make self-destructive choices, ultimately leading to Ambrosius’s demise. Kripke’s latest comments connect these two narratives in a manner that had not been fully explored on screen previously.

Fans of the series have often joked about the bizarre nature of The Deep’s interactions with marine life. However, this new detail adds an unexpected layer of continuity to what previously seemed like isolated events.

By linking the octopus that killed The Deep to Ambrosius as family, Kripke enhances the emotional depth of The Deep’s actions. It transforms what once appeared as isolated dark comedy scenes into a broader pattern of ongoing destruction in his life.

The Deep, portrayed by Chace Crawford, has consistently been depicted as a character grappling with ego, insecurity, and poor decisions. This revelation casts his storyline in an even darker light, suggesting that his actions have had far-reaching consequences beyond what was shown on screen.

The writers of ‘The Boys’ are renowned for blending extreme humor with shocking violence and emotional twists. This new detail aligns perfectly with that style, transforming a peculiar joke into a cohesive narrative about loss, responsibility, and consequences.
