‘Big Bang Theory’ Star Wil Wheaton Returns in New Spinoff ‘Stuart Fails To Save The Universe’
HBO Max has unveiled a fresh look at Stuart Fails To Save The Universe, the upcoming Big Bang Theory spinoff, featuring a surprise cameo from Wil Wheaton, as revealed in the latest sizzle reel released by the platform.
Wheaton, who portrayed a fictionalized version of himself in the original series, makes a brief appearance in the footage inside Stuart Bloom’s comic book store. This moment is fleeting but shows him seemingly attacking Stuart and his friends with an energy blast, while Stuart, Denise, Bert, and Barry Kripke react to the chaos around them.
This cameo strengthens the connection between the new series and the original Big Bang Theory universe. Wheaton was a recurring character throughout many seasons, appearing in 17 episodes from seasons 3 to 12. His return, even in a small role, adds to the growing list of familiar faces teased for the spinoff.
The new series centers on Stuart Bloom, played by Kevin Sussman, who finds himself at the heart of bizarre events after accidentally triggering a multiverse disaster. The story kicks off when Stuart breaks a device originally created by Sheldon Cooper and Leonard Hofstadter, leading to a reality collapse that compels him to mend multiple fractured universes.
Alongside Stuart, the show features his girlfriend Denise, his friend Bert, and physicist Barry Kripke. Together, they embark on a chaotic journey across various versions of reality. The series also teases alternate-universe versions of beloved characters from the original show, adding a new dimension of comedy and sci-fi storytelling to the franchise.
According to HBO Max, the show is created and executive produced by Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn, and Bill Prady, with Lorre and Prady being longtime creative forces behind The Big Bang Theory franchise. The music for the series is composed by Danny Elfman, known for his extensive work in film and television.
The spinoff is produced by Chuck Lorre Productions in collaboration with Warner Bros. Television, continuing the expansion of the Big Bang Theory universe, which has already seen several successful spinoffs.
Stuart Fails To Save The Universe is set to premiere in July on HBO Max.
