Eric André Reveals He Used His Ex’s Netflix Account Until Landing a Netflix Movie
Eric André recently shared a humorous and personal anecdote about how he continued to use his ex’s Netflix account until he secured a role in the upcoming film ‘Little Brother’. The actor and comedian discussed this during an interview with PEOPLE at the 2026 Netflix Upfront event held in New York City on May 13.
He noted that his Netflix situation changed only after he officially became part of a Netflix project. Once he was cast in ‘Little Brother’, he managed to regain access to his own account through the company.
“The only reason I got back on my account that I was locked out of for years is because I made this movie and I talked to people very high up in Netflix to get back in,” André mentioned, according to PEOPLE. He humorously added, “Yeah, I was literally just shy of asking Ted.” This was a reference to Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos.
‘Little Brother’ is a comedy film directed by Matt Spicer. It tells the story of a quiet and composed real estate agent, played by John Cena, whose life takes a turn when his chaotic younger brother, portrayed by André, unexpectedly arrives. The film also stars Michelle Monaghan, Christopher Meloni, Sherry Cola, Ego Nwodim, and Caleb Hearon in supporting roles.
André expressed his enjoyment of working with Cena, describing their on-set chemistry as natural and fun, resembling a real sibling relationship. “John’s the best. He’s a goat. He’s goated, man. He can do it all — comedy, drama, wrestling,” André stated.
He characterized their working dynamic as playful and close, noting they developed a “little brother, big brother” vibe during filming. He added, “Yeah, we went method for this one. And it got a little bromantic.”
John Cena also shared his thoughts on working with André in an interview with PEOPLE. He expressed admiration for André’s unique comedic style, saying, “I have not laughed out loud so much as long as I can remember.” Cena praised André’s creativity, noting that the script was a perfect match for him.
Cena further noted that André brings a distinct energy compared to other comedians, explaining that comedy, much like wrestling, allows for individual styles. “There’s no real wrong way to do comedy, and everybody kind of has a different perspective,” Cena remarked.
He described André as unpredictable yet talented, stating, “He’s crazy, but so thoughtful, and his mind is always working, and it’s just awesome to see.”
‘Little Brother’ is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on June 26. The film is already generating buzz not only for its star-studded cast but also for the genuine friendship and chemistry between its two leads.
