A recent leak has provided fans with a clearer understanding of how Peter Parker and Bruce Banner might connect in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’. This information comes from France Figurines, which shared a brief synopsis highlighting the struggles faced by both characters.

The synopsis states, “Bruce Banner uses an inhibitor that keeps him in human form..Banner and Peter Parker, both struggling with an uncontrollable transformation, find themselves in a narrative parallel at the heart of the film”. This indicates that both characters will confront similar internal challenges, despite their powers originating from very different sources.

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is an upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film produced by Columbia Pictures, Marvel Studios, and Pascal Pictures, and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, the film sees Tom Holland reprising his role as Peter Parker, alongside Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo.

Set after the events of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, the story unfolds as the world has forgotten Peter Parker’s identity. Living alone in New York, he resumes his role as a street-level hero, but his powers are becoming increasingly unstable, adding to his dangers.

Bruce Banner, portrayed by Mark Ruffalo, is now a professor at Empire State University, attempting to lead a peaceful life after years of being the Hulk. The inhibitor he uses keeps him in human form, but the film suggests that this control may not be permanent. Banner becomes a crucial figure for Peter, who seeks his assistance with his own unstable transformation.

The theme of both characters grappling with control is significant for the film’s structure. Peter faces changes in his spider abilities, while Banner contends with the looming threat of reverting to the Hulk. Their shared fears of what they might become forge a strong emotional bond between them.

According to the same synopsis, the narrative places them in parallel situations rather than a straightforward mentor-student dynamic. Instead of one teaching the other, both characters appear to reflect each other’s fears and choices, potentially intensifying their interactions as Peter navigates the type of hero he aspires to be.

The film is also anticipated to feature other significant characters like Frank Castle / Punisher and Mac Gargan / Scorpion, further complicating Peter’s already intricate situation in New York.

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is set to release on July 31, as part of Marvel’s Phase Six. If the leaked synopsis holds true, the film may focus less on grand team-ups and more on personal identity, control, and the challenges of managing difficult powers.
