Brad Pitt is embroiled in a peculiar legal battle after a skincare company known for its male-oriented products has filed a lawsuit against his brand, as reported by AirMail.

The company, Beau D., alleges that Pitt’s skincare line, Beau Domaine, bears too much resemblance to its own name. They accuse the actor’s business of unfair competition and false designation of origin under California business law. The dispute revolves around branding that both parties claim could mislead consumers.

Founded in 2020, Beau D. offers luxury grooming products, including a lip salve and a provocatively marketed item called “D. Cream.” In contrast, Pitt’s skincare line launched in 2022, developed in collaboration with a French winemaking family, features grape-based ingredients from varieties like Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, and is marketed as a premium anti-aging skincare line.

Initially branded as Le Domaine, Pitt’s line was renamed Beau Domaine in 2024, a change that has now become the focal point of the legal dispute. Beau D. argues that this updated name is too similar to its own and claims it attempted to resolve the matter privately before resorting to legal action.

The lawsuit seeks over $75,000 in damages and demands that Pitt’s skincare line cease using the Beau Domaine name entirely. The complaint also asserts that the branding similarities could confuse customers, despite the companies targeting different segments of the skincare market.

Brandon Palas, the founder of Beau D., described his product boldly, stating, “It will help to bring plumpness to that skin, inspire collagen production, and slow down the process of aging.” The brand has embraced edgy marketing strategies, which have garnered significant attention online.

Pitt’s skincare line is part of his broader business interests in France, which include his ownership stake in Château Miraval, a vineyard that has also been involved in ongoing legal disputes in his personal life. Beau Domaine is presented as a luxury wellness brand that merges skincare science with vineyard-derived ingredients.

As of now, representatives for Brad Pitt have not publicly addressed the lawsuit, according to AirMail. Legal experts consulted in the report indicated that the case may not be straightforward, particularly given the distinct focuses and branding contexts of the two companies.

Nevertheless, Beau D. is moving forward with its claim, arguing that the name similarity and brand overlap warrant legal action. The court’s decision will likely hinge on how closely the branding is perceived to overlap from a consumer perspective.

For now, this case adds another unexpected chapter to Brad Pitt’s business endeavors, presenting a dispute that is as unusual as it is newsworthy.
