Recent set photos from the production of Man of Tomorrow are offering fans a sneak peek at the next installment of the DC Universe. Production updates and reports confirm that David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult have been seen filming together as they work on the highly anticipated superhero sequel.

The images capture Corenswet reprising his role as Superman, also known as Clark Kent, donning the full costume during filming. This movie picks up directly after 2025’s Superman and continues the narrative within James Gunn’s new DC Universe.

Man of Tomorrow is being crafted by James Gunn, who is both writing and directing, with production handled by DC Studios alongside Peter Safran. The film expands on the world introduced in Superman and introduces a larger conflict that places multiple characters in new scenarios. According to information from DC Studios, the narrative will not only center on Superman but will also prominently feature Lex Luthor.

Nicholas Hoult returns as Lex Luthor, and early reports indicate that his character will play a significant role in the plot. Rather than being a straightforward villain, Lex is expected to form an uneasy alliance with Superman as they confront a greater threat.

The primary antagonist of the film is Brainiac, a well-known character from DC Comics recognized for his superior intellect and destructive ambitions. The cast also features Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Isabela Merced, Frank Grillo, María Gabriela de Faría, Sara Sampaio, and Milly Alcock as Supergirl. Lars Eidinger has been cast as Brainiac, with Aaron Pierre appearing in a currently undisclosed role.

Filming for the project commenced on April 20 and is primarily taking place at Trilith Studios in Georgia. Additional scenes are being shot in the United Kingdom and Cincinnati, Ohio, with some sequences filmed at Terminal Station in Macon, Georgia, which serves as a stand-in for the Daily Planet newsroom.

This project is part of Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, marking the first phase of the new DC Universe. Earlier comments from James Gunn indicated that development on the sequel began even before the release of Superman in 2025, highlighting the studio’s rapid expansion of its shared universe.

Set leaks and production photos have also revealed Nicholas Hoult in Lex Luthor’s warsuit. The armor, inspired by classic comic book designs, has quickly become a hot topic among fans. Early footage shows Hoult maneuvering comfortably in the suit while filming action sequences.

Fans online have expressed surprise at the suit’s mobility. One viewer remarked, “Not as big as I thought but man he moves in it like it’s nothing.” Another added, “Damn he moves around pretty good in that big ass suit.”

The warsuit design remains true to its comic book origins, featuring the iconic green armored look associated with Lex Luthor’s battles against Superman, while also incorporating updated details to align with the new DC Universe’s aesthetic.

Some fans have also noted an ARGUS logo on the armor in the leaked footage, leading to speculation about a potential connection between Lex Luthor and the government agency in the new DCU, although no official clarification has been provided.

As filming continues and more set images are anticipated, Man of Tomorrow is generating significant buzz online. The return of Corenswet as Superman and Hoult as Lex Luthor, along with the introduction of Brainiac, indicates a major expansion of James Gunn’s DC Universe as it continues to evolve.
