Trump Shares AI Image of Himself as Naruto on Truth Social Sparking Reactions
President Donald Trump has once again made headlines, this time by portraying himself as one of the most beloved characters in anime history.
The 45th and 47th president posted an image on Truth Social depicting himself as Naruto Uzumaki, the iconic spiky-haired ninja from Masashi Kishimoto’s renowned franchise, igniting a predictable flurry of reactions across social media.
Created by Masashi Kishimoto, Naruto Uzumaki is a young ninja on a quest to become the strongest in his village and ultimately its leader, known as the Hokage. Cheerful, hyperactive, and strong-willed, he is a shinobi from the Hidden Leaf Village who aspires to be Hokage despite being the lowest-performing student in his ninja school, determined to prove his worth to those who doubted him.

Whether Trump’s team sees a deliberate parallel in that underdog-to-leader narrative or simply thought the orange jumpsuit was a good fit is anyone’s guess.
The screenshot features Trump’s face photoshopped onto Naruto’s signature orange-and-black outfit, hands positioned in the character’s iconic hand seal pose, surrounded by other characters from the series.
This isn’t an isolated incident. Trump or whoever manages his account shared a staggering 861 posts and reposts on Truth Social in May alone, averaging over 27 posts daily, including inflammatory memes and AI-generated images and videos.
Among the more eyebrow-raising posts was an image depicting Democrats in an unflattering light, and in April, Trump controversially shared an image of himself as Jesus.
That Jesus post faced rare backlash from the religious right, leading to accusations of blasphemy and calls for its removal before it was ultimately deleted. In contrast, the Naruto post seems to have landed in much lighter territory, with anime fans expressing a mix of amusement and confusion rather than outrage.
Trump’s team has heavily embraced AI-generated self-portraits as a strategic move. The administration’s official social media accounts have gained over 16 million new followers across platforms since Inauguration Day, and the White House has openly embraced meme culture, even posting a sign on the lawn that parodies critics of its online content.
This latest wave of AI content fits a clear pattern, as the president has shared several videos and images presenting himself in an exaggerated manner using artificial intelligence, including an “AI-generated Trump 007 meme” and content branding him as “the Greatest Attraction.”
Anime fans, a community known for being protective of their favorite characters, have had mixed reactions to ‘Naruto’ receiving the presidential treatment, with many responding with ninja-themed jokes and others expressing genuine philosophical concerns.
Trump posted over 2,200 times in the first four months of the year, averaging nearly 19 posts daily, covering everything from political endorsements to memes and AI-generated images. At this pace, it may not be long before the president explores the entire Shonen Jump roster.
