Alison Brie has emerged as a prominent figure on the press circuit for ‘Masters of the Universe’, and recent photos highlight her stunning presence. Sporting a striking black mini dress during promotional events, Brie has captivated audiences while advocating for the eagerly anticipated live-action revival of the cherished Mattel franchise, where she portrays the iconic villainess Evil-Lyn.

In the film, Brie takes on the role of Evil-Lyn, Skeletor’s second-in-command, a sorceress wielding a magic wand topped with a crystal orb. She stars alongside Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man and Camila Mendes as Teela, the captain of the royal guard. This role has clearly invigorated the actress, who has passionately discussed the character throughout her promotional appearances.

In an interview with USA Today, Brie revealed that she watched a significant amount of the original cartoon to prepare and described Evil-Lyn as a classic femme fatale with a sense of humor, calling the role “just unlike anything I’ve ever really done.” On TODAY, she also discussed how her physical training for ‘GLOW’ helped her with the sword fighting and hand-to-hand combat required for the character.

Directed by Travis Knight, the film features a screenplay by Chris Butler and is produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films, with Sony Pictures Releasing managing international distribution. The film runs for 141 minutes and boasts a diverse ensemble cast including Jared Leto as Skeletor, Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms, Kristen Wiig, Morena Baccarin, and James Purefoy.

The franchise has a rich history, with the popular Mattel line launching in 1982, followed by the animated series in 1983. The last live-action film was released in 1987, featuring Dolph Lundgren as He-Man and Meg Foster as the original cinematic Evil-Lyn. The new production has been in various stages of development since 2007, making its release a long-awaited event for fans.

The film debuted with $11.7 million on its opening Friday, including previews, and received a B CinemaScore from general audiences. Children under 12 rated it at an impressive 96% in the top two boxes, and the production heavily utilized IMAX and premium large format screens, which accounted for 44% of its opening weekend revenue.

The opening weekend grossed approximately $31 million domestically, which analysts have described as a soft start considering the film’s reported production budget of over $170 million.

Critics have responded more favorably, with the film holding a Certified Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes, indicating that the creative product has resonated better than its commercial debut might suggest. Whether strong word of mouth can propel the film to a longer run remains uncertain, but Brie’s captivating presence both on and off screen provides the studio with a significant asset in the weeks to come.
