Tom Hiddleston has portrayed Loki for many years in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In a recent interview, he shares how profoundly the character has become intertwined with his life and identity.

He explains that returning to Loki repeatedly has influenced him in unexpected ways since he first took on the role.

He stated, “He’s a part of me now. He’s my other self. It’s very difficult to imagine my life without Loki, and I’m so grateful that I was given the opportunity to play a character of such depth, dimension, soul, complexity and playfulness.”

Hiddleston also discussed how the role has evolved over time. Loki has transitioned from a villain to a more nuanced character, showcasing growth and change throughout various films and series. He describes the process of revisiting the character as both ongoing and personal, saying, “And to come back again and again, and pour myself into him, and learn from him and teach him — it’s extraordinary.”

He adds that the bond between actor and character has transformed into something beyond mere ownership. In his words, “The association with him is so deep… Loki doesn’t belong to me. It belongs to you. It belongs to all of us. I love him.” This sentiment illustrates how the character has become part of a broader audience experience, transcending just one actor’s career.

Meanwhile, Marvel Studios is gearing up for one of its most significant crossover films to date. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is set to be a pivotal chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, uniting characters from various timelines and universes. Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and penned by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely, the film continues the multiverse storyline that has been unfolding across recent Marvel projects.

The narrative brings together multiple factions, including the Avengers, Wakandans, and New Avengers from Earth-616, who join forces with the Fantastic Four from Earth-828 and the X-Men from another universe. They must confront a formidable threat: Doctor Doom, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr. in a significant shift for the franchise. The film is crafted as a large-scale crossover event where different worlds collide.

Production details from Marvel Studios indicate a lengthy development process. The project underwent reshaping after earlier plans for other Avengers films were altered. The Kang storyline was modified, leading to a new central villain and a fresh structure for the saga. This evolution has culminated in the current version of ‘Doomsday,’ which emphasizes Doctor Doom and the convergence of multiple universes.

Filming occurred in 2025 at Pinewood Studios in England, with additional shoots in England and Bahrain. The film is slated for release in December 2026, followed by its sequel ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ in 2027.
