Amazon Prime Video Confirms Renewal of ‘Every Year After’ for Season 2
Amazon Prime Video has officially announced the renewal of the romantic drama series ‘Every Year After’ for a second season.
The series premiered on Amazon Prime Video on June 10, following its world debut at the Tribeca Festival on June 8. Despite being a newcomer, it quickly garnered enough attention for the platform to greenlight another season. The renewal was confirmed in late June.
Developed by Amy B. Harris and Leila Gerstein, ‘Every Year After’ is based on the novel ‘Every Summer After’ by Carley Fortune. The narrative explores themes of nostalgia, lost love, and deep emotional connections that span years. The upcoming second season is anticipated to continue the story with the second book in the series, titled ‘One Golden Summer.’
The show centers on Percy Fraser, portrayed by Sadie Soverall, who returns to her childhood summer town in Barry’s Bay, Canada, after many years. Now working as an obituary writer, she comes back for a funeral that compels her to reconnect with figures from her past. One significant person in her life is Sam Florek, played by Matt Cornett, her childhood best friend and former boyfriend, who is now a cardiologist.

Other key characters include Charlie Florek, played by Michael Bradway, Sam’s older brother and a hedge fund manager, and Delilah Mason, portrayed by Abigail Cowen, who is both Percy’s childhood frenemy and part of the Florek brothers’ social circle. Aurora Perrineau plays Chantal, Percy’s current best friend and an attorney, while Joseph Chiu plays Jordie, Sam’s best friend and the owner of the Bay Breeze Motel.
The series effectively builds emotional tension through evolving relationships, particularly between Percy and Sam, whose unresolved past connection adds depth to the narrative. The setting of Barry’s Bay serves as a poignant reminder of the characters’ shared history and lingering emotions.
Despite mixed reactions, the show’s renewal indicates strong viewer interest and solid performance for Amazon Prime Video. The decision to continue the series into a second season reflects the platform’s belief in the story’s long-term potential and its audience.
Currently, no release date has been announced for Season 2, but it is expected to follow the storyline of ‘One Golden Summer,’ continuing Percy’s emotional journey and her complex history with Sam and the Florek family.
