Cara Delevingne Discusses Dating ‘Aquaman’ Star Amber Heard After Johnny Depp
Cara Delevingne has opened up about her past relationship with Amber Heard, revealing that they became romantically involved after Heard’s marriage to Johnny Depp ended.
During a recent appearance on The Louis Theroux Podcast, Delevingne addressed long-standing rumors linking her to Heard while the actress was navigating her divorce from Depp. Host Louis Theroux brought up reports of Depp’s jealousy regarding the speculation about Delevingne and Heard’s connection.
Delevingne explained that the rumors began after they collaborated on the film ‘London Fields’. “Am I meant to comment? It’s because we did a movie together, and it was called London Fields. He was also doing the movie. I think he was pretty driven crazy by jealousy. Nothing was happening at that point. Later, after they divorced, it had, I suppose,” she stated.
When Theroux pressed her for clarification, Delevingne shared that she and Heard had been close friends for a long time before their relationship took a romantic turn. “We were close for a long time, and then when they were going through the divorce, yeah, we were entangled. … But she was also entangled with other people,” she noted.
Theroux mentioned Elon Musk, to which Delevingne simply replied, “There you go.” The actress emphasized that her relationship with Heard occurred after Heard and Depp had already separated. Heard filed for divorce from Depp in 2016 after about a year of marriage and later dated Musk before their relationship ended in early 2018.
The conversation also delved into other aspects of Delevingne’s personal life. She discussed her views on marriage and reflected on past comments made by former movie producer Harvey Weinstein.
Delevingne recounted a phone call from Weinstein early in her career, during which he questioned her sexuality and cautioned her against dating women. “Harvey Weinstein called me up and said, ‘Are you gay?’ And I was like, ‘Um, what do you mean?’ And he was like, ‘You should never be in a relationship with a woman… You’ll never make it in the industry if people think you’re gay,’” she recalled. She admitted that his words had a significant impact on her at the time. “And I really believed him, and I really took that to heart,” Delevingne confessed.
Reflecting on her past, she acknowledged that she understood her sexuality from a young age, even if she didn’t fully recognize it then. “Well, now I look back on it, it was super evident really young. I knew at, like, 11 years old. I had this one friend that I was like, ‘Oh, I think I care about her more than she likes me, and I don’t know how, but I do.’ It was obvious now, but then it really wasn’t, and I’m very proud of it now,” she shared.
Delevingne expressed that being open about her sexuality has empowered her to help others. “I think when I started talking about it and being open about it, I felt like there was a lot to fight for still at that point in terms of shows about gay people and people to look up to for younger kids,” she said.
This interview on The Louis Theroux Podcast marks one of the rare occasions Delevingne has directly addressed her past relationship with Heard while also reflecting on other personal experiences that have shaped her life and career.
