Mark Phillips, the creative mind behind one of YouTube’s most cherished comedy collectives, has made a bold move with his latest project. ‘The League of Extra Ordinary Heroes,’ a new original superhero series produced in collaboration with RDCworld, is now available for streaming on YouTube. The announcement from Culture Crave has sparked considerable excitement across social media platforms.

The show’s premise is captivating. It centers on seven vigilantes who lack actual superpowers but have been dressing up as heroes in their community. When real threats emerge, they must confront the reality of whether they are true heroes or merely individuals playing pretend. This concept perfectly blends comedy with genuine stakes, a tonal balance that RDCworld has mastered over the years through its viral content.

The cast for this project extends beyond the RDCworld universe. Khleo Thomas, recognized for his role as Hector Zeroni in Disney’s beloved 2003 film ‘Holes’ alongside Shia LaBeouf and Sigourney Weaver, stars in the series alongside Tony Statovci and Leland Manigo, who is a core member of the RDCworld collective and Phillips’ cousin. Thomas’s film experience adds a layer of credibility that elevates this project beyond a typical YouTube creator endeavor.

RDCworld1, which stands for Real Dreams Change the World, is the flagship channel co-founded by Phillips and Affiong Harris. As of earlier this year, the channel boasts over 7.2 million subscribers and nearly 1.85 billion total views since its inception in 2012, with recent uploads consistently attracting between 5 to 10 million views. The group has built its reputation through viral comedy sketches rooted in anime, sports, and gaming culture, garnering fans including NBA stars like LeBron James and rapper J. Cole.

The superhero genre has always been integral to RDCworld’s identity. Among their most popular recurring series are ‘Anime House,’ which imagines anime characters cohabitating, and skits that parody everything from Marvel films to popular video game franchises. ‘The League of Extra Ordinary Heroes’ signifies Phillips’ ambition to expand that sensibility into a comprehensive narrative format, moving away from the standalone sketches that established the channel’s fame.

Mark Phillips first expressed his ambition to create an original anime series years before the channel became a commercial success. Early documentation reveals that RDCworld1 was initially launched to promote their self-published manga ‘The Resistance.’ This new superhero series feels like a realization of that original creative vision, now supported by years of audience engagement and the production infrastructure the collective has developed.

With the series now live on YouTube and early reactions on social media trending positively, all eyes are on whether ‘The League of Extra Ordinary Heroes’ can cultivate the kind of week-over-week following necessary to sustain a serialized narrative on a platform that typically favors short-form content. Given Phillips’ proven ability to understand his audience, it seems likely that the series will gain momentum quickly.
