Leicester Square transformed into a scene reminiscent of Greek mythology this week as Hollywood’s biggest stars gathered in London for an eagerly awaited night. The iconic Odeon Luxe theater served as the backdrop for one of the most star-studded events the British capital has witnessed in years. Anticipation had been building as the cast navigated a whirlwind of photocalls and press appearances leading up to the grand occasion.

Christopher Nolan’s long-anticipated adaptation of Homer’s ancient epic finally took center stage, and the cast delivered on red carpet glamour. A towering wooden Trojan horse dominated the venue, setting the mood for an evening rich in mythology and spectacle. Enthusiastic fans lined the sandy-themed carpet, eager to catch a glimpse of their favorite celebrities.

Among the standout appearances were Charlize Theron and Zendaya, who posed together for photographers in striking, contrasting outfits. Theron, portraying the nymph Calypso in the film, dazzled in a sleek black ensemble that exuded old Hollywood elegance. Zendaya, playing the goddess Athena, later switched into a shimmering green and grey outfit after debuting an all-white look earlier in the evening.

The duo was joined on the carpet by a star-studded ensemble that included Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, and Lupita Nyong’o. Also in attendance were Elliot Page, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, Mia Goth, Samantha Morton, Himesh Patel, and musician Travis Scott, all there to celebrate Nolan’s latest cinematic venture. It was a homecoming of sorts for British cast members like Holland, Pattinson, and Goth.

‘The Odyssey‘ chronicles the legendary Greek hero’s perilous journey home from the Trojan War, with Damon leading the cast as Odysseus. Holland portrays his son Telemachus, while Hathaway plays his devoted wife Penelope. Pattinson rounds out the main cast as Antinous, the scheming suitor determined to win Penelope’s hand and the throne of Ithaca during Odysseus’s absence.

Reflecting on the massive scale of the production, Damon noted how demanding the shoot was. “It felt like six or seven movies in one,” he shared with Variety, adding that each location presented its own unique technical challenges. He emphasized that the difficulties of filming at this scale were unlike anything he had faced in his career, according to the same interview.

Zendaya also shared how her experience on the project deepened her connection to the source material. In a video interview, she expressed a newfound appreciation for Greek mythology that she plans to carry into future roles. She remarked on how many stories that followed can trace their roots back to this ancient tale, pondering what that continuity reveals about human nature.

The ‘Euphoria’ star also touched on the emotional experience of watching her real-life husband and co-star, Tom Holland, portray Odysseus’s son. Their off-screen romance has only heightened the buzz surrounding the film, especially with the couple set to reunite for the upcoming ‘Spider-Man’ installment. Fans on social media have already filled timelines with reactions to their joint red carpet appearance in London.

The premiere comes as Nolan follows up his Oscar-winning success with ‘Oppenheimer,’ which became one of his highest-grossing films globally. Industry experts are predicting a similarly massive opening for ‘The Odyssey’ when it premieres in North American theaters on July 17. Given the historic scale of the production and the star power behind it, all eyes will be on how audiences respond once the film finally debuts.

With reactions from the London crowd already generating excitement online, anticipation for ‘The Odyssey’ shows no signs of waning. What are your thoughts on the cast’s stunning red carpet looks and the buildup to this highly anticipated release? Let us know in the comments.
