‘Batman: Caped Crusader’ Season 2 Rotten Tomatoes Score Revealed and It’s Impressive
‘Batman: Caped Crusader’ Season 2 is receiving a positive response from critics, with the early Rotten Tomatoes score indicating that the animated series has maintained its strong momentum.
The series debuted on Prime Video in August 2024 and quickly distinguished itself from other recent Batman adaptations. Instead of the typical modern-day Gotham, ‘Caped Crusader’ transports viewers back to the 1940s, blending superhero narratives with film noir elements.
This unique approach showcases a younger Bruce Wayne grappling with crime, corruption, and formidable foes while discovering the kind of Batman he aspires to be.
Currently, the second season boasts an impressive 91% on the Tomatometer based on 11 reviews, according to Rotten Tomatoes. This score places the new episodes firmly in positive territory, giving fans yet another reason to be thrilled about Bruce Timm’s darker interpretation of the Batman lore.

Season 2 seems to push the darker narrative even further.
One of the standout early reviews comes from FandomWire’s M.N. Miller, who rated the season 9/10. Miller described the second season as “exciting and beautifully crafted,” emphasizing that the show’s visual style remains one of its key strengths.
Collider’s Liam Gaughan also shared a positive outlook, giving the season a 7/10. Gaughan referred to ‘Caped Crusader’ as “a fascinating thought experiment” due to its distinct feel compared to many other DC series. However, the review noted that the show’s unconventional format might limit some storytelling possibilities.
Screen Rant’s Felipe Rangel awarded Season 2 an 8/10, commending the series for its ability to reinvent familiar DC characters. Rangel stated that there is “no other superhero movie or show” delivering such a unique old-school superhero narrative while making significant changes to well-known figures.
The Spool’s Tim Stevens also pointed out the increased brutality of the new season. Stevens noted that Bruce Timm and his team have successfully differentiated the series from ‘Batman: The Animated Series,’ stating that “this season is brutal.”
This comparison is significant as ‘Caped Crusader’ is often regarded as a spiritual successor to ‘Batman: The Animated Series,’ the iconic show that Timm co-created. Although the new series shares some elements with its predecessor, it has cultivated a more mature identity through its historical setting, serialized storytelling, and deeper focus on crime and corruption.
Inverse’s Ryan Britt went even further, labeling ‘Caped Crusader’ as one of the “best and most underrated DC TV projects around.”
The strong early reviews are particularly noteworthy as Season 2 arrives during a time when DC is ushering in a new era across both film and television. Rather than attempting to connect directly to the broader DC Universe, ‘Caped Crusader’ continues to thrive in its own stylized realm, allowing creators the freedom to reinterpret Batman’s legacy and supporting characters.
Season 2 premieres on Prime Video on July 31, 2026. If the 91% Rotten Tomatoes score holds as more reviews come in, ‘Batman: Caped Crusader’ could be entering its second season with even greater critical acclaim than before.
