Taylor Sheridan, widely recognized as the mastermind behind some of television’s most successful series, is set to step back in front of the camera.

While he continues to manage an expanding roster of shows, Sheridan will make an appearance in the upcoming third season of his acclaimed series.

The news was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, which confirmed that Sheridan will take on an acting role in the new season of ‘Lioness’. Although details about his character remain under wraps, the report indicates he will share scenes with Thad Luckinbill, who portrays CIA paramilitary officer Kyle McManus.

Luckinbill also spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about collaborating with Sheridan both as a creator and fellow actor. He commended Sheridan’s ability to juggle writing, producing, and acting while remaining engaged with the series.

“He’s involved. I mean, he has a role, which is great. And the show’s better for it when he plays a role. He’s a great character, and he kills it. So, I love when he comes in and plays with us,” Luckinbill said.

While many fans now recognize Sheridan for creating hit series like ‘Yellowstone’, ‘Landman’, ‘Mayor of Kingstown’, ‘Tulsa King’, ‘The Madison’, and ‘Lioness’, acting was actually his initial entry into the entertainment world. Before becoming one of television’s most successful writers and producers, he appeared in shows such as ‘Sons of Anarchy’, ‘Walker, Texas Ranger’, and ‘Veronica Mars’.

Since focusing on writing, Sheridan has become more selective about his acting roles. He has portrayed horse trainer Travis Wheatley in ‘Yellowstone’, played Charles Goodnight in the prequel series ‘1883’, and appeared in the second season of ‘Lioness’ as CIA operative Cody Spears.

While Paramount+ has yet to officially disclose who Sheridan will portray in Season 3, Luckinbill’s remarks strongly imply that he will reprise his role as Cody Spears rather than introduce a new character.

‘Lioness’ has emerged as one of Paramount+’s most popular original series since its launch. The spy thriller features Zoe Saldaña as CIA officer Joe, alongside Nicole Kidman, Morgan Freeman, Michael Kelly, and several other notable actors. The series centers on an elite CIA program that deploys female operatives undercover to thwart terrorist threats globally.

The third season premieres on Paramount+ this weekend, with much of the main cast returning. According to the official synopsis released by Paramount+, the new episodes will elevate the stakes even higher.

“Hidden networks, foreign operatives and personal betrayals collide. Joe walks the line between duty and home as unseen forces circle her world. Patterns appear where they shouldn’t, names vanish and paths rearrange. Guided by Kaitlyn and Westfield, Joe confronts enemies operating in the shadows, leaving her to reckon with a war that now reaches into every part of her life.”

Sheridan has spent the last several years establishing one of the busiest television empires in Hollywood, making it uncommon for him to return to acting. His appearances have typically been limited to small yet impactful roles in his own projects, making his comeback in ‘Lioness’ Season 3 a delightful surprise for longtime fans.

With the new season set to debut, viewers won’t have to wait long to discover how Sheridan fits into the latest chapter of the spy drama and the role his character will play alongside the rest of the team.
