Meet the New Faces Joining ‘Lioness’ Season 3
Taylor Sheridan’s espionage thriller ‘Lioness‘ has returned to Paramount+, and Season 3 is introducing an exciting array of operatives, diplomats, and enigmatic figures that are set to disrupt Joe McNamara’s world. As the CIA’s Quick Reaction Force confronts threats that feel more personal than ever, the series has quietly expanded its roster with some fascinating new characters.
With a familiar face from ‘Yellowstone’ and a trio of newcomers steeped in espionage, ‘Lioness’ Season 3 offers fans plenty of fresh talent to get to know.
The standout new addition for Season 3 is Ian Bohen, who takes on the role of Grady, a Delta Force operator and K9 handler joining the Lioness team. Fans of Sheridan’s other major hit will recognize him as Peter Hale from ‘Teen Wolf’ and Ryan from ‘Yellowstone’.
Grady is described in more detail elsewhere; according to Variety, he is a “by-the-book Delta Force operator and primary K9 handler, skilled in battlefield tactics.” This grounded and disciplined persona could serve as a perfect counterbalance to the more chaotic elements of Joe’s world this season.
Bohen is no stranger to the Sheridan universe. In addition to ‘Yellowstone’ and ‘Teen Wolf,’ he has appeared in ‘Air Force One Down’ and ‘Wind River’. This casting feels tailor-made for fans who appreciate seeing familiar faces across Sheridan’s expansive TV landscape.
In addition to Grady, the season introduces several characters with strong ties to the international espionage scene that defines the show. Lev Gorn joins as an international deputy ambassador, with Variety reporting that while specific details remain under wraps, Gorn will portray a recurring character known for his “expensive taste.”
Gorn brings significant credibility to the espionage genre, best known for his role as Arkady Zotov in the acclaimed FX Cold War drama ‘The Americans.’ He has also had recurring roles in shows like ‘The Wire,’ ‘For All Mankind,’ ‘Citadel,’ and ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’. Given his impressive resume, it’s clear why Sheridan sought him for a character described as a diplomat with a penchant for the finer things.

Elizaveta Neretin is another significant new addition, though details about her character remain intentionally vague. Deadline reported that she will portray an international operative who crosses paths with Joe. Neretin has previous ties to Sheridan’s work, having played Vera in an episode of ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ and Maria Volkova in a 2020 episode of ‘The Flash’.
Completing the trio of new espionage-focused characters is Jack Dimich, who joins as an FSB agent. Dimich plays Alexi Yurimov, an FSB agent, alongside Reynada Robinson in a currently undisclosed role. With Russian intelligence now in play, it appears that Joe’s Season 3 conflict is drawing from a deeper, more geopolitically charged narrative than before.
These new characters will interact with the show’s established core. Saldaña returns as Joe, the CIA station chief overseeing Lioness, a program that recruits, trains, and leads women into undercover operations. Nicole Kidman also reprises her role as a strategic CIA supervisor who oversees Lioness and Joe’s missions.
Michael Kelly returns as one of Joe’s closest allies within the agency, playing CIA Deputy Director Byron Westfield, whose political influence shapes the team’s operations. Morgan Freeman rounds out the returning leadership as Secretary of State Edwin Mullins.
The ensemble remains largely intact, with Laysla De Oliveira, Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Genesis Rodriguez, Austin Hébert, Jonah Wharton, Thad Luckinbill, and Hannah Love Lanier all reprising their roles. This deep bench provides the new arrivals with plenty of established relationships to navigate.
For those eager to meet these new characters, the wait is over. ‘Lioness’ Season 3 premiered on Sunday, Aug. 2, with new episodes airing weekly on Sundays until the season finale, totaling eight episodes.
The stakes for this new season sound more personal than ever. According to the official description, hidden networks, foreign operatives, and personal betrayals collide as Joe balances duty and home while unseen forces close in on her world.
As for the future of these new characters, it remains uncertain. Currently, there has been no official announcement regarding a fourth season of ‘Lioness’, meaning these new additions could either become long-term fixtures or one-season experiments, depending on how the story unfolds.
With an FSB agent, a taste-conscious ambassador, a mysterious operative, and a K9-handling Delta Force veteran entering the mix, Joe McNamara’s already perilous world just got significantly more crowded. Which of these new ‘Lioness’ Season 3 characters do you think will emerge as the greatest threat to Joe by the end of the season?
