Kevin Feige Confirms ‘Spider-Man 5’ Is Happening But With One Major Catch
Following one of the most monumental box office weekends in cinema history, Marvel fans are buzzing with anticipation about what lies ahead. For a franchise that has transformed Peter Parker into a global icon over the past decade, the stakes feel particularly high this time.
‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day‘ not only made waves upon its release but also shattered records, achieving the biggest opening weekend for a theatrical film ever, surpassing 2019’s ‘Avengers: Endgame’. Such a remarkable achievement naturally ignites discussions about potential sequels and the future direction of the story.
In a recent interview with Variety, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed that a sequel is indeed on the horizon, although it won’t be arriving immediately. “There are always plans,” Feige stated, adding that Tom Holland will take a break following his extensive promotional tour. “He and Zendaya are going to take a good and restful victory lap, which they very much deserve,” Feige remarked.
This break is well-deserved for the two stars, who have been on a whirlwind promotional tour for both ‘Brand New Day’ and their recent collaboration, Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’, released in July. Since Holland first appeared in 2017’s ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, he and Zendaya have become the heart and soul of the Spider-Man franchise.
Feige also shared his emotional response to the film’s success, expressing how overwhelming it was to witness such a momentous occasion. “It’s overwhelming, frankly, to find ourselves in this position on a Monday morning,” Feige said, reflecting on the significance of the moment, especially given the industry’s challenging recovery from the pandemic.

While Feige was somewhat vague about the timeline for the sequel, Sony CEO Tom Rothman was more definitive, responding with a clear “Yes” when asked if ‘Spider-Man 5’ would happen. This gives fans plenty of hope, even though the exact release date remains uncertain.
‘Brand New Day’ continues the story years after ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, focusing on Peter Parker as he navigates life without his closest allies after erasing his identity from the world’s memory. The film introduces Jon Bernthal and Sadie Sink alongside returning favorites, and it reportedly sets up storylines that could extend into future Marvel projects.
For now, the focus is on giving Holland and Zendaya the time they deserve to relax before diving into the next chapter. With ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ set to release later this year and numerous Multiverse Saga threads still to resolve, Marvel seems content to let its two leading stars enjoy a well-earned break before returning to the action.
