Many ‘Star Wars’ fans believe the story of Obi-Wan Kenobi is far from over. Disney+’s 2022 series delved into the emotional years bridging the prequel trilogy and the original 1977 film, yet a significant portion of the Jedi Master’s life remains unexplored.

The prospect of revisiting that era is gaining traction, especially with Ewan McGregor expressing his desire to reprise his role as Obi-Wan. Actress Anne Hathaway has also revealed her enthusiasm for potentially joining a second season of the series.

In a recent interview with Esquire featuring McGregor, Hathaway shared her eagerness to enter the ‘Star Wars’ universe through a continuation of ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’. While Lucasfilm has yet to announce an official season 2, the idea has already ignited excitement among fans eager to see new characters introduced during Obi-Wan’s hidden years.

McGregor has consistently emphasized that he believes there are more stories waiting to be told. The actor, who first portrayed the Jedi in the 1999 film ‘The Phantom Menace’, has stated that the time between the conclusion of ‘Revenge of the Sith’ and Obi-Wan’s appearance in ‘A New Hope’ still holds plenty of untapped material.

The Disney+ series depicted Obi-Wan living in isolation on Tatooine after the loss of his student Anakin Skywalker to the dark side. It focused on his emotional struggles, his severed connection with the Jedi Order, and his eventual return to action.

However, the timeline still leaves about a decade of Obi-Wan’s life unexplored before Alec Guinness’s portrayal of the character in the original ‘Star Wars’ film.

McGregor has previously explained why this time period captivates him. He described Obi-Wan’s exile as a compelling chapter, as the character audiences recognize as a wise and confident Jedi had to endure a phase of loss and uncertainty.

According to ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ creator Deborah Chow, McGregor was already contemplating another season while filming the first. Chow revealed that McGregor believed there were “another 10 years with plenty of stories” left to explore after completing the first season.

The actor has also pointed out that there is still a realistic window for him to return. McGregor noted he has time before reaching the age Alec Guinness was when he played Obi-Wan in 1977, meaning the timeline could still accommodate another story.

His passion for the role has remained strong over the years. McGregor has expressed a desire for another opportunity to portray Obi-Wan and believes it could happen someday after being connected to the character for over two decades.

For fans, the allure of another season is evident. The first series demonstrated there was interest in seeing a more vulnerable version of Obi-Wan, rather than just the composed Jedi Master audiences met in the original trilogy.

Still, there is currently no confirmation from Lucasfilm regarding the production of ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Season 2. McGregor’s comments and Hathaway’s interest remain hopeful aspirations, not official plans.

Nevertheless, the ongoing support from the actor and increasing fan demand indicate that Obi-Wan’s story may not be over yet. After all these years, the Jedi Master’s missing years on Tatooine still hold many secrets waiting to be unveiled.
