Molly Ringwald has been a cherished figure in Hollywood for decades, famously linked to the John Hughes classics that catapulted her to fame in the ’80s. However, not all her experiences in the industry have been positive, and she recently shared her candid thoughts during a live television appearance.

During her appearance on ‘Watch What Happens Live’ with Andy Cohen, Ringwald participated in the show’s popular game, “Spill the IMDb Tea,” where celebrities rate their past projects based on their behind-the-scenes experiences. What began as a nostalgic reflection quickly turned into a revealing moment.

Ringwald rated her time on ‘The Secret Life of the American Teenager’ as the worst job of her career, citing a toxic co-star. Her straightforward assessment surprised both Cohen and the live audience. When asked about her rating scale, she confirmed that a one represented the most negative experience, stating, “The worst is ‘one’? OK, that was it. The worst.”

She clarified that her issues were not with the entire cast, expressing her affection for her co-stars, especially Shailene Woodley. However, she mentioned, “There was one person that was really difficult. And I’m not gonna say who that one person is, [but] they brought it down to [being the worst].” This comment has sparked speculation among fans and media about which cast member she might be referring to, but Ringwald has not provided further details.

In ‘The Secret Life of the American Teenager’, Ringwald portrayed Anne Juergens, the mother of Shailene Woodley’s character, Amy. She appeared in 96 out of the show’s 121 episodes, which aired from 2008 to 2013. The ensemble cast included Daren Kagasoff, Ken Baumann, Francia Raisa, Megan Park, Greg Finley, India Eisley, Mark Derwin, and Steve Schirripa, all of whom remain potential candidates for her mystery co-star.

The same segment allowed Ringwald to reminisce about more positive experiences, particularly her role in ‘Pretty in Pink’, which she rated a perfect ten. She fondly recalled the film’s significance, noting that John Hughes wrote it specifically for her and that she still cherishes a handmade collage from that time.

Cohen also inquired about other projects from her IMDb page, including ‘Not Another Teen Movie’, ‘Jem and the Holograms’, ‘Diff’rent Strokes’, ‘The Facts of Life’, and ‘Teaching Mrs. Tingle’, providing viewers with a broader perspective on her extensive career. Additionally, Ringwald expressed regret over declining Demi Moore’s role in the 1990 film ‘Ghost’, which won three Oscars and grossed over $500 million, acknowledging that Moore did an excellent job with the role.

Ringwald’s remarks come as ‘The Secret Life of the American Teenager’ continues to enjoy a loyal fanbase among those who fondly remember mid-2000s teen dramas, many of whom have analyzed the show’s cast dynamics over the years.
