‘Grown Ups 3’ Filming Underway with Adam Sandler Delightfully Engaging New Jersey Fans
Adam Sandler’s Netflix empire has been steadily growing for over a decade, but few announcements have sparked as much nostalgic excitement as the revival of one of his cherished comedy franchises. After years of anticipation, the arrival of another chapter in this beloved story is finally upon us.
The comedy first captivated audiences in 2010, bringing together a group of childhood friends for a wild summer, followed by a 2013 sequel that upped the ante with even more slapstick humor. Now, over a decade later, Sandler and his longtime collaborators are back in action, and filming has officially commenced.
‘Grown Ups 3’ has started production, with Adam Sandler spotted shooting scenes alongside co-star Chris Rock in Woodbridge, New Jersey. This marks the first confirmed filming activity since Netflix announced the project in May 2026. According to a report from Patch, the duo was seen filming with a large crew on Wendy Road in the Colonia area, with Colonia Country Club serving as a staging area for production and catering, while additional crew members were observed near Colonia High School.
Local residents noted that Sandler was in high spirits during the shoot, taking time to snap photos with children who gathered around the set. The Woodbridge location was wrapped up on Monday night, with no further filming scheduled there the following day, although Sandler wasn’t quite done with the Garden State just yet.
The day after the Woodbridge shoot, Sandler was seen filming solo, without any other cast members, at Rod’s Steak & Seafood inside The Madison Hotel in Morristown, New Jersey. A local Instagram account, Morristown Media, confirmed the location after speaking with a member of the production crew on-site, who indicated that Sandler was expected to be there throughout the day’s filming.
Interestingly, locals in Woodbridge also spotted actress Jamie Chung in the area during the Monday shoot. Chung appeared in the original ‘Grown Ups’ film as one of Rob Schneider’s character’s daughters, although she has not been officially confirmed as part of the returning cast for this third installment.
In addition to Sandler and Rock, the sequel is anticipated to bring back Kevin James, David Spade, and Rob Schneider, reuniting the core comedic ensemble more than a decade after ‘Grown Ups 2’ was released in 2013. Kyle Newacheck, who previously directed ‘Happy Gilmore 2’, is at the helm for this installment, with Sandler co-writing the script alongside his longtime collaborator Tim Herlihy.
Unlike the first two films, which received theatrical releases through Sony, ‘Grown Ups 3’ will skip theaters entirely and head straight to Netflix, continuing Sandler’s established trend of bringing his comedies directly to the streaming platform. Production reports suggest that the storyline follows the group as they travel to Europe to spread a late friend’s ashes, with filming also planned in Boston, Italy, and France, in addition to the New Jersey locations already captured.
Neither the first nor the second ‘Grown Ups’ film was particularly well-received by critics, both failing to achieve a 10% average positive score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, this hasn’t deterred the franchise from remaining a fan favorite among Sandler’s vast Netflix audience.
