‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day‘ has been making headlines since its release on July 31, continuing to break box office records. This latest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe follows Tom Holland’s portrayal of Peter Parker as he navigates the aftermath of a life-altering memory-erasing spell, marking a significant success in the franchise’s history.

In its second week, the film showed no signs of slowing down, crossing $1.32 billion globally within just nine days. It has already outperformed major hits like ‘Beauty and the Beast,’ ‘Frozen,’ and ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,’ securing its position among the top twenty-five highest-grossing films of all time.

The film has now officially surpassed ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ in total theatrical gross, moving ‘Brand New Day’ into fifth place among the highest-grossing MCU films ever. This achievement comes as ‘Age of Ultron’ previously dominated with a $1.4 billion global total back in 2015.

With ‘Brand New Day’ climbing past ‘Age of Ultron,’ it is now close to overtaking other franchise heavyweights like ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ at $1.34 billion and ‘Black Panther’ at $1.35 billion. Given its impressive pace since release, it seems likely that it will continue to rise in the MCU rankings.

The film’s domestic performance has been equally impressive, becoming the first movie to surpass $500 million in North America within its opening week. It also recorded the second-largest non-holiday Thursday ever, trailing only ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.’

This remarkable domestic success positions ‘Brand New Day’ to challenge one of Hollywood’s longstanding records. Analysts suggest it could potentially surpass ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens,’ which has held the all-time domestic box office record of $936.6 million since 2015.

Much of the discussion surrounding ‘Brand New Day’ has drawn comparisons to ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ which still holds the record for the largest global debut at $1.224 billion. While ‘Brand New Day’ didn’t quite reach that milestone, it did secure the second-largest global opening of all time, surpassing every other film in the franchise except for Endgame.

The film has also set records as the fastest to reach $400 million domestically and the second-fastest to cross $1 billion globally, trailing only Endgame in both categories. This consistent performance across various box office metrics indicates that ‘Brand New Day’ is not merely benefiting from a strong opening weekend but is maintaining genuine momentum throughout its theatrical run.
