‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Box Office Success Continues with Strong Second Weekend
‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is demonstrating that its impressive opening weekend was no mere coincidence. The Marvel and Sony film continued to attract large audiences as it entered its second weekend in theaters, providing another significant boost at the domestic box office.
According to Variety, the Tom Holland-led superhero movie earned $43 million in North America on Friday alone from 4,487 theaters. The film is projected to finish the weekend with approximately $143 million domestically, reflecting a drop of around 60% from its record-breaking $360 million opening.
If these estimates hold true, ‘Brand New Day’ will have amassed about $653 million in North America after just two weekends.
The movie is also making remarkable strides on the global box office chart. Earlier this week, ‘Brand New Day’ surpassed ‘Toy Story 5’ to become the highest-grossing film released in 2026 thus far.
‘Toy Story 5’ had been in theaters since June and eventually grossed $1.067 billion worldwide. ‘Brand New Day’ achieved this milestone in only seven days, reaching an estimated $1.155 billion globally.
The film crossed the $1 billion threshold after just six days, with only ‘Avengers: Endgame’ achieving that feat faster, taking three days to reach around $1.2 billion.
This positions ‘Brand New Day’ impressively, even as it faces competition from several other major films during its run. The strong second-weekend numbers indicate that audiences are still eager to see it, following the massive turnout for its opening.

Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ held onto second place domestically. The epic earned $8.8 million on its fourth Friday and is expected to earn around $30.5 million over the full weekend, bringing its North American total to approximately $460 million.
Several new films also debuted in theaters, but none came close to challenging the two major holdovers.
‘One Night Only’ had the strongest debut among newcomers, making $2.8 million on Friday from 3,012 theaters and is projected to finish the weekend with about $6 million. The romantic comedy stars Callum Turner and Monica Barbaro and follows two individuals who meet on a very unusual night.
‘Super Troopers 3’ opened with $1.7 million from 2,760 theaters and is projected to earn around $3.9 million for the weekend. Meanwhile, ‘Ice Cream Man’, the Eli Roth horror film about a menacing ice cream vendor, grossed $1 million on Friday from 1,090 locations.
‘Toy Story 5’ landed in fifth place with an additional $1.15 million on Friday. The animated sequel is expected to add around $4.1 million over the weekend, bringing its domestic total to approximately $470.5 million.
For ‘Brand New Day’, however, the more significant story is the speed of its ascent. With over $1.1 billion already collected worldwide and another major domestic weekend on the horizon, Spider-Man’s latest adventure is proving that its box office run still has plenty of momentum.
