Sam Mendes’ four-film Beatles project has been generating excitement since its cast was announced, and with production now in full swing, fans are getting their first extended looks at the actors embodying the legendary icons. This ambitious cinematic endeavor will narrate the Beatles’ story through four distinct films, each focusing on a different band member’s perspective, with Paul Mescal, Harris Dickinson, Joseph Quinn, and Barry Keoghan portraying Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr respectively.

In addition to the four lead actors, the project boasts an impressive supporting cast, including Anna Sawai as Yoko Ono, Aimee Lou Wood as Pattie Boyd, and James Norton as the band’s longtime manager Brian Epstein. Among them, Saoirse Ronan’s role as Linda McCartney has garnered significant attention, thanks to the Oscar-nominated actress’s ability to fully immerse herself in transformative roles.

Recently released set photos reveal Ronan in character as Linda for the first time, with filming taking place in London’s St. John’s Wood neighborhood, conveniently close to Paul McCartney’s actual home. The images showcase Ronan in period-appropriate attire, perfectly capturing the essence of McCartney’s first wife as production continues on what is becoming one of the most anticipated biopic projects in recent memory.

The commitment to authenticity was further highlighted on set, where a young actress was also spotted alongside Ronan, seemingly portraying one of the McCartney children during filming. Paul Mescal was seen on location as well, indicating that the crew is actively shooting scenes that depict the couple’s life together as part of the broader Beatles narrative.

Unlike a conventional biopic, Mendes’ approach divides the Beatles’ story into four interconnected films, each providing a unique viewpoint on the band’s history and dynamics. All four films are currently set to premiere simultaneously on April 7, 2028, a distinctive release strategy that emphasizes the ambitious nature of the project.

The films are being produced through a collaboration between Sony Pictures and Mendes’ Neal Street Productions, in partnership with Apple Corps to ensure the narrative remains true to the band’s legacy and archives. The scripts have been penned by Jez Butterworth, Peter Straughan, and Jack Thorne, all of whom have extensive experience in high-caliber filmmaking.

The marketing for the project has already embraced a sense of intrigue and exploration, with Sony previously distributing exclusive postcards featuring first-look images of the four lead actors at iconic Beatles locations worldwide, including Liverpool’s Cavern Club and the Strawberry Fields memorial in New York’s Central Park. This rollout indicates that the studio is approaching the films’ promotional cycle with the same meticulous attention as the production itself.

As filming progresses and new candid images of Ronan as Linda McCartney continue to emerge, excitement for the project remains high, even with over a year until audiences can finally experience the completed films.
