Netflix Confirms Release Date and Reveals First-Look Photos for ‘The Body’
Netflix has been building excitement for ‘The Body,’ a coming-of-age psychodrama from writer-director Quinn Shephard, which began filming in September 2025. Set in a strict Catholic school, the series follows a group of teenage girls whose dance-team initiation goes horribly wrong, leading to a series of prophetic visions that trigger mass hysteria in their community.
This intriguing premise has drawn comparisons to classic narratives of religious paranoia and teenage rebellion. Shephard describes the project as deeply personal, reflecting her own experiences of navigating girlhood with an intensity akin to a religious journey. The eight-episode series serves as her follow-up to the Emmy-nominated FX drama ‘Under the Bridge,’ reuniting her with producing partners Riley Keough and Gina Gammell of Felix Culpa.
With production now complete, Netflix has officially announced the show’s premiere date and released a series of first-look photos showcasing the ensemble cast. ‘The Body’ will start streaming on November 11, as reported by Deadline, providing a concrete timeline for a project that has generated buzz since its cast was first revealed.
The newly released images feature series leads Kristina Bogic, Sara Boustany, Geena Meszaros, and Shirley Chen, offering a glimpse into the tense, atmospheric world Shephard has crafted. Sofia Wylie, known for her role in ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,’ completes the core cast as Grace Franklin, one of the central students navigating the chaos around her.
Among the cast, reality star Gabby Windey has garnered attention as she takes on her first scripted acting role after rising to fame on ‘The Bachelorette’ and winning ‘The Traitors.’ Windey portrays Coach Miller, marking a significant career shift as she transitions into scripted drama.
This casting choice reflects the show’s blend of emerging talent and familiar faces, with Nnamdi Asomugha, Louisa Krause, and Jackson Kelly rounding out the regular cast, anchoring the show’s community-wide unraveling. Additional recurring cast members, including Ashley Madekwe and Marcel Ruiz, enhance the ensemble of students, faculty, and family members caught in the aftermath.
Shephard has openly shared how much of her own experiences she infused into the project, telling Netflix’s Tudum that the show aims to playfully explore the nightmares of her teenage years. Her creative approach, which combines genuine unease with dark humor, aligns with the tone critics have noted from early details about the series.
With filming completed since February and a confirmed November release, ‘The Body’ is set to emerge as one of Netflix’s most distinctive teen dramas this fall. Given Shephard’s track record for addressing complex, emotionally charged themes, the series is poised to deliver a genuinely unsettling portrayal of adolescence upon its premiere.
