Jenna Ortega Shares ‘Wednesday’ Season 3 Release Date and What’s Next for the Addams Family
Jenna Ortega has provided fans with exciting insights into what to expect from ‘Wednesday’ season 3, indicating that this next chapter will transition the story into a significantly different phase of Wednesday Addams’ life.
In a recent interview with Esquire, Ortega confirmed that the third season will unfold during Wednesday’s senior year at Nevermore Academy. The narrative is set to commence approximately a year after the events of season 2, bringing Wednesday and her peers closer to adulthood.
This shift in age will introduce a new array of challenges. Ortega elaborated that the upcoming season will delve deeper into themes of family, maturation, and the uncertainties that accompany making life choices.
“This season, especially because the kids are seniors in high school now, we’re dealing with more confrontational feelings regarding family and what it means to be an adult and what you see for your life,” Ortega shared with Esquire.
She further added, “It’s not really until you get to the precipice of adulthood that you start to realize, ‘Oh, God, well, maybe I’ve got to have a plan.’”
The transition to senior year could signify a pivotal moment for the series. The first season followed Wednesday during her sophomore year, while season 2 brought her back to Nevermore as a junior. With her final year of high school approaching, the show is nearing a natural conclusion for its Nevermore storyline.
However, this does not necessarily imply that ‘Wednesday’ will conclude after season 3. The new season may prompt the character to contemplate her future beyond Nevermore and whether she desires a conventional path into adulthood.

Family dynamics will also play a significant role in the storyline. Wednesday’s relationship with her mother, Morticia, has already been complex, and Ortega’s remarks suggest that their issues may intensify as Wednesday matures.
The introduction of Morticia’s sister, Ophelia Frump, could further complicate matters. Eva Green has joined the cast as Ophelia, a character tied to the Addams family’s history. Her presence may unearth old secrets and unresolved family conflicts.
Season 3 is also set to expand its cast. Winona Ryder, Chris Sarandon, Oscar Morgan, and Kennedy Moyer are among the new additions, while Lena Headey, Andrew McCarthy, and James Lance have also joined in undisclosed roles.
Ortega will reprise her role alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Joy Sunday, Isaac Ordonez, and other returning cast members.
As per the latest information, production commenced in February 2026. Netflix has yet to announce an official premiere date, but the new season is anticipated to debut sometime in late 2027.
For ‘Wednesday’, the next chapter may shift focus from merely surviving Nevermore to discovering who she aspires to be once school is no longer the defining aspect of her life.
