Canadian Theater Creates Hand-Drawn Poster for ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’
A movie theater in Canada has come up with a creative solution to an unexpected issue: it never received an official poster for ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’.
Rather than leaving the wall bare, the theater displayed a hand-drawn Spider-Man poster, which has quickly gained popularity among fans online.
The image was first shared on Reddit, where a moviegoer humorously pointed out the situation at their local theater. The post featured a homemade drawing of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man alongside a handwritten note from the theater.
“We never received the real posters! Sorry for any inconveniences,” the sign states.

The spelling errors only add to its charm. Instead of resembling an official marketing piece, the poster has the unmistakable feel of something crafted out of necessity.
The Reddit user who shared the image described the theater as so “scuffed” that it couldn’t even obtain the real poster for one of the year’s biggest films. They also praised the artist behind the drawing.
It didn’t take long for internet users to identify the source of the image. According to an edit added to the original Reddit post, the theater is a Famous Players location in Prince George, British Columbia.
What began as a lighthearted comment about a missing poster evolved into something much more heartwarming. The homemade artwork added character to the theater, and the effort put into it made it hard for fans to complain.
The timing is also amusing given the immense success of ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’. The Tom Holland film premiered in theaters on July 31 and has quickly become one of the biggest box office hits of 2026. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the movie features Holland reprising his role as Peter Parker, alongside Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Florence Pugh, Mark Ruffalo, and others.

The film follows Peter as he attempts to navigate being a more independent Spider-Man while safeguarding New York City. Unlike some previous MCU films, ‘Brand New Day’ emphasizes Peter’s solo journey and his encounters with street-level threats.
This makes the homemade poster even more amusing. One of the year’s biggest blockbusters had to rely on some good old-fashioned creativity to fill a theater wall.
It’s also fitting for a local cinema to create its own Spider-Man artwork. The character has always resonated with everyday people, and this poster certainly feels more personal than a polished studio advertisement.
It remains unclear if the theater eventually received its official posters. For now, however, the hand-drawn version has arguably become more memorable than any official one could have been.
And honestly, the artist deserves some recognition.
