‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Becomes The Highest-Grossing Spider-Man Movie Ever
Tom Holland’s portrayal of Spider-Man has shattered records at an unprecedented pace, and this weekend marked yet another significant achievement. Sony’s ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day‘ has been rewriting box office history throughout its theatrical run, hitting milestone after milestone.
Since its debut on July 31, the film has rapidly surpassed benchmarks, outpacing even ‘Avengers: Endgame’s’ historic performance in 2019. What began as a record-setting opening weekend has evolved into a remarkable race against the franchise’s own legacy.
‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has crossed an impressive $1.85 billion at the global box office, officially claiming the title of the highest-grossing Spider-Man film of all time, surpassing 2021’s ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ and its $1.9 billion worldwide total.
This achievement is particularly noteworthy, as ‘No Way Home’ benefited from a wave of nostalgia with the returns of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, along with minimal competition during a pandemic-era release. In contrast, ‘Brand New Day’ has reached similar heights without that multiverse appeal, relying on consistently strong daily earnings that have matched, and at times exceeded, ‘Endgame’s’ historic pace.
The film’s international performance has been remarkable, with its overseas total reaching $1.108 billion, surpassing ‘No Way Home’s’ full foreign haul of $1.106 billion, making it Sony’s biggest release outside North America. Domestically, ‘Brand New Day’ has also become only the second Spider-Man film to cross $700 million, trailing just behind ‘No Way Home’ on that specific list.
Throughout its journey, ‘Brand New Day’ has set numerous records that few films achieve. It became the fastest movie to reach $500 million domestically, the quickest to hit $700 million, and one of the rare films to surpass $1 billion worldwide within a week of release, a pace only matched by ‘Endgame.’

The film’s opening weekend set multiple records, delivering the largest domestic debut in box office history with $360 million and the second-largest global opening ever at $932 million. It also recorded the highest-grossing Monday in history with $47 million, surpassing the previous record held by 2018’s ‘Black Panther.’
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige reflected on the film’s impressive box office journey, attributing its success to the character’s lasting appeal. He expressed surprise at seeing ‘Endgame’s’ domestic opening record fall, especially considering this was the studio’s 38th MCU release. Feige shared with Variety that he hadn’t anticipated ‘Endgame’s’ record being broken, but was thrilled it occurred with this installment.
This momentum has propelled ‘Brand New Day’ throughout its entire run, with the film continuing to dominate box office charts even weeks after its release. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and featuring Zendaya, Sadie Sink, and Jon Bernthal, the film remains the highest-grossing release of the year, backed by strong reviews and enthusiastic audience word of mouth.
With the film now leading its franchise’s all-time earnings list, the pressing question is how much higher it can climb before its theatrical run concludes, and whether it has enough momentum to challenge some of the biggest names on the all-time global chart.
