New information has surfaced regarding the death of actress Hayden Panettiere, with TMZ reporting that medication typically used to treat opioid overdoses was discovered in the South Carolina apartment where she passed away.

Sources in Greenville, South Carolina, indicate that Narcan was found at the residence. Narcan is a medication frequently used to counteract the effects of an opioid overdose. According to TMZ, the device used to administer the medication was located on a mattress inside the apartment.

However, this discovery does not confirm that Panettiere died from an overdose. It remains uncertain who, if anyone, received the Narcan.

TMZ reports that first responders at the scene mentioned a possible overdose while communicating with dispatch. They also noted that CPR was being administered. This information was obtained from emergency communications reviewed by TMZ.

Adding to the complexity of the situation, two ambulances reportedly responded to the apartment, suggesting that multiple individuals may have required medical assistance. According to TMZ, neither ambulance transported anyone from the residence.

Emergency crews also reportedly utilized epinephrine at the scene. This drug, commonly known as adrenaline, is often used in attempts to revive the heart during cardiac arrest situations. This aligns with the initial 911 call, which allegedly involved a woman believed to be in cardiac arrest.

Panettiere was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:32 p.m. on Sunday, according to TMZ. The exact cause and manner of her death have yet to be determined based on the information currently available.

Another individual linked to the case is Panettiere’s longtime on-and-off boyfriend, Brian Hickerson. TMZ reports that Hickerson had been staying at the residence. He hails from the Greenville area, but the outlet has been unable to reach him since the news of Panettiere’s death broke.

Hickerson spoke with TMZ in May about his relationship with Panettiere, expressing fondness for the actress while also acknowledging that he believed she would be better off without him.

He expressed a desire to see Panettiere “flourish.”

The new details surrounding the apartment have raised questions about the events leading up to the arrival of emergency crews. However, the presence of Narcan alone does not confirm an overdose, and the reasons for its presence or who may have received it remain unclear.

Authorities will ultimately need to determine the cause of Panettiere’s death. Until official findings are released, reports regarding an overdose should be regarded as unverified.

The actress, known for her roles in shows and films such as ‘Heroes’ and ‘Nashville,’ was 35 years old. Her death has elicited a wave of attention from fans and fellow performers, while investigators continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding her final hours.
