‘GTA 6’ Leaker Threatens More Leaks Unless Rockstar Restores Physical Discs
‘Grand Theft Auto 6’ has generated immense anticipation in gaming history, but this excitement has been marred by ongoing leaks. Rockstar Games has faced numerous unauthorized breaches during the game’s development, and just when fans thought the leaks might be over, a new one has emerged with a distinct agenda.
This latest leak came over the weekend from a group or individual known as Cyberleek, who shared new footage and a supposed map ahead of the game’s November release. The leaked clips reportedly feature co-lead protagonist Jason in various scenarios, including playing basketball outside his home and later crashing his car before engaging in a violent confrontation with a delivery driver that attracts police attention.
In addition to the footage, Cyberleek has issued a broader demand aimed at Rockstar and the gaming industry at large. According to the leaker’s statement, they will continue to release unauthorized material unless Rockstar publicly apologizes and commits to specific changes regarding how the game is sold, including reinstating physical disc copies instead of relying solely on digital distribution.
Cyberleek detailed this ultimatum in a manifesto shared alongside the leaked content, presenting their demands as three so-called “commandments.” “CYBERLEEK will continue to disrupt their operations until they issue a public apology with a concrete commitment to fix the harm they caused. No private negotiations. No quiet settlements. The public sees it, or the ‘leeks’ do not stop,” the statement warned, emphasizing that “if CYBERLEEK can reach Rockstar, no one is safe.”
The demands extend beyond just physical media. Cyberleek’s first commandment calls for an end to digital pre-orders before a game’s release and independent reviews, while still allowing pre-orders for physical copies. The second commandment criticizes what the leaker refers to as “fake single-player DLC,” condemning publishers for locking content behind paywalls that was already included at launch. The third demand urges publishers to maintain single-player content through an offline fallback system once servers eventually shut down.
This framing aligns with a broader industry debate about the preservation of physical media, an issue that has gained traction as more major publishers move towards digital-first releases. Reports suggest that Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive may launch ‘Grand Theft Auto 6’ as a digital-only title to mitigate the risk of further leaks, with a physical edition potentially arriving weeks later or possibly not until early 2027.
In response to the leak, Rockstar has issued copyright takedown requests targeting the circulating footage, a move that has inadvertently fueled suspicions about the material’s authenticity. As of this writing, neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has made any public statement addressing Cyberleek’s specific demands.
The timing of this leak is particularly significant with what’s set to happen later this month. Rockstar is scheduled to unveil “Grand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look” this Thursday, August 27, initially as a timed Netflix exclusive before expanding to platforms like YouTube approximately six hours later.
Cyberleek has indicated that more leaks could follow, reportedly planning to release additional material on August 19. Whether this timing is coincidental or a strategic attempt to overshadow Rockstar’s promotional efforts remains uncertain, but the pressure it places on the studio ahead of a major reveal is undeniable.
With ‘Grand Theft Auto 6’ still set for release on November 19 and leaks continuing to emerge just months before launch, Rockstar is under increasing pressure from multiple fronts. It remains to be seen whether the studio will address Cyberleek’s demands or continue its pattern of quiet takedowns.
