Every summer, a new actor often emerges into the spotlight, and this year, that honor goes to a face that many viewers might not instantly recognize. Ella Rubin has spent the last few years appearing in notable projects without fully stepping into a leading role.

However, that has changed significantly in recent weeks. A new Prime Video coming-of-age drama has provided her with the opportunity to finally take center stage, and audiences are noticing her in a big way.

The actress in focus is 24-year-old Ella Rubin, who plays Annie Jacobson in Megan Park’s ‘Sterling Point,’ which debuted on Amazon Prime Video on August 5. The series follows Annie’s journey after she and her twin brother inherit their enigmatic grandfather’s island in Canada, leading to new friendships, budding romances, and the revelation of long-hidden family secrets.

Rubin was born and raised on New York’s Upper West Side, training at the Professional Children’s School, whose alumni include Scarlett Johansson and Sarah Jessica Parker. Before landing this leading role, she steadily built her résumé with supporting roles in the ‘Gossip Girl’ reboot, ‘The Girl From Plainville,’ ‘The Idea of You’ alongside Anne Hathaway, and Sean Baker’s Oscar-winning ‘Anora.’

‘Sterling Point’ marks the first time Rubin has taken on a series as its lead, and this transition hasn’t gone unnoticed by those who have worked closely with her. Series creator Megan Park has been particularly vocal about Rubin’s potential, stating to W Magazine that the actress is “one of those rare actors who is so achingly real and nuanced in what she brings to her characters and performances, it’s impossible not to feel something while watching her.”

Park further emphasized her belief in Rubin’s potential, stating that she will “be one of the biggest movie stars in the world one day” and expressing excitement to witness her career flourish.

Rubin has discussed the challenges of taking on a role that demands significant emotional depth while maintaining her authenticity. She shared with W how she had to completely adjust her understanding of Annie as production details evolved, even reworking the character’s background, including her New York neighborhood.

The actress also reflected on what it means to finally lead a project after years of supporting roles. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she explained how having more agency on set transformed her experience of portraying a teenager as an adult actor, noting that young performers often feel “a little bit infantilized” without that trust from the production.

In addition to her acting, Rubin is making waves in the fashion world. She has been building a relationship with Louis Vuitton, having walked in her first-ever runway show for the brand’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection this past May, and she represented the label again at the ‘Sterling Point’ premiere in New York City.

The show itself comes from a talented creative team, with Park as creator alongside showrunners Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, produced through Fake Empire and Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment. The ensemble cast features Amélie Hoeferle, Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie, Keen Ruffalo, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Missi Pyle, but it’s Rubin’s performance that critics and fans have highlighted as the show’s standout.

With ‘Sterling Point’ quickly becoming a must-watch, it’s no surprise that Rubin’s name is suddenly everywhere. With her established film credits and now a leading role in a series generating significant industry buzz, she embodies the qualities of a breakout star that Hollywood loves to celebrate.

For an actress who has spent years quietly accumulating credits in acclaimed ensembles, the transition to leading lady feels less like a stroke of luck and more like the natural progression in a career that has been building toward this moment. Regardless of whether ‘Sterling Point’ receives a second season, it’s evident that Rubin’s career trajectory is on an upward path.
