‘Ted Lasso’ Season 4 Cast Guide: Returning Faces and New Additions to AFC Richmond
‘Ted Lasso‘ has officially made its comeback, and the cast for Season 4 presents a fresh lineup compared to the Greyhounds squad fans bid farewell to in 2023. Jason Sudeikis reprises his role as Ted, joined by several familiar faces including Hannah Waddingham as Rebecca Welton, Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent, Brendan Hunt as Coach Beard, Juno Temple as Keeley Jones, and Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins. This season, the show has traded its traditional men’s locker room for a completely new environment.
Season 4 follows Ted as he returns to Richmond to tackle his most significant challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team. This transition brings a host of new characters alongside the returning favorites, generating excitement among fans about who is joining the team and who has been left out.
This season sees the return of what fans affectionately call “the brass,” including Keeley, played by Juno Temple, Rebecca, portrayed by Hannah Waddingham, and Higgins, played by Jeremy Swift, alongside Sudeikis. Waddingham reprises her role as Rebecca Welton, the determined owner of AFC Richmond, who continues to lead the club with confidence, resilience, and compassion while supporting the team through its latest challenges and maintaining her close bond with Ted.
Juno Temple returns as Keeley Jones, the upbeat public relations expert whose warmth, ambition, and optimism continue to make her an integral part of AFC Richmond as she embraces new personal and professional opportunities this season. Brett Goldstein also returns as Roy Kent, who has stepped up as head coach of the men’s team, taking over from Ted.
Brendan Hunt is back as Coach Beard, standing by Ted as he navigates this new chapter. Andrea Anders also returns in a smaller role as Michelle Lasso, Ted’s ex-wife, providing longtime viewers with a familiar connection to the Kansas City side of the story.
The most significant storyline shift comes with the introduction of an entirely new roster. Tanya Reynolds is arguably the standout newcomer, playing Alice Chilton, one of the coaches for the new Lady Greyhounds team alongside Lasso and Coach Beard. Her character arc has been hinted at as a woman striving to appear tough and focused, potentially at the expense of her humor and softness.

Other new cast members joining the series include Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern, and Grant Feely, with specific character details for several newcomers initially kept under wraps. It has since been confirmed that Feely takes on the role of Henry Lasso, Ted’s son.
Among the new footballers fans will get to know are Boots, played by Jude Mack, Gemma, portrayed by Abbie Hern, and Lizzie, played by Faye Marsay, among many others on the Lady Greyhounds roster. Ted will need assistance from the meticulous Alice Chilton and the strategic, emotionally sensitive Coach Beard to navigate the challenges that come with building this new squad.
Not every familiar face is returning to Richmond. Since the season focuses on the new women’s team, cast members like Phil Dunster, Toheeb Jimoh, and Cristo Fernández will not be on the pitch. This means Jamie Tartt, Sam Obisanya, and Dani Rojas are sitting this chapter out, at least for now.
While many beloved cast members are absent from the new episodes, producers have left the possibility open for a cameo or two to appear along the way. This includes players whose arcs many fans considered some of the most rewarding character journeys throughout the first three seasons.
Sarah Niles’ Dr. Sharon, who joined partway through the original run as the team’s sports psychologist, is another name missing from the new lineup so far. These absences have sparked considerable discussion online, with some viewers hoping the show finds a way to incorporate old favorites back into the storyline before the season concludes.
Apple TV+ confirmed that filming for the fourth season began in Kansas City, with additional shoots taking place in London. Season 4 filming officially kicked off in July, and a teaser trailer revealed both cast and location details ahead of the premiere.
Sudeikis shared his thoughts on Ted’s arc with The Hollywood Reporter, explaining that the story was complete, as Ted returned to Kansas City to be with his son, and that he wouldn’t have Ted uproot their lives just to justify bringing the show back. He also reflected on the importance of returning with a new cast, noting he needed this chapter as much as the fans do.
Season 4 premiered on Apple TV+ with the first episode now streaming, following Season 3, which was originally intended to be the show’s final chapter. With the new Lady Greyhounds era officially underway, the pressure is on for this ensemble to win over the same audience that transformed the original squad into a cultural phenomenon.
Which Season 4 newcomer are you most eager to see join Ted’s dugout, and do you think any of the missing Greyhounds will return to Richmond before the season wraps up?
