Glasgow has emerged as a reliable stand-in for Gotham City in modern cinema, and this week, the Scottish city reaffirmed its status as production on ‘The Batman Part II’ intensifies. Fans have been busy analyzing road closures, cast sightings, and blurry long-lens photos to uncover what director Matt Reeves is crafting this time.

Recent photos shared by Instagram user ross_sneddon provide a clearer picture. The Batmobile can be seen drifting through the slushy, fake-snow-covered streets of Glasgow, offering fans a detailed glimpse of Robert Pattinson’s iconic vehicle in action.

Beyond the cinematic allure, these images have sparked interest among car enthusiasts who are closely following the production. Unlike Christian Bale’s military-grade Tumbler or Michael Keaton’s elegant art deco design, Pattinson’s Batmobile is a classic American muscle car taken to the extreme, featuring an exposed rear engine described in the film’s lore as a massive, twin-turbocharged V8 equipped with a jet afterburner.

The stunt versions utilized on set are reportedly powered by heavily modified Chevy LS V8 engines, generating over 650 horsepower, which gives the Batmobile its distinctive roar as it speeds through the streets. Managing such raw power on a set covered in fake snow and slick water is challenging, which likely explains the unusual metallic, pyramid-shaped cage bolted above the cockpit seen in several of the newly released images, presumably a safety rig for the stunt driver navigating those slippery conditions.

Production designer James Chinlund is responsible for constructing the vehicle, maintaining the grounded, practical aesthetic that characterized the first film. Reeves has consistently emphasized tangible, lived-in production design throughout the franchise, and these latest set photos indicate that commitment remains strong as they head into the sequel.

Sneddon’s photos follow a series of recent Glasgow sightings that have kept fans buzzing. Earlier images shared by photographer LaryssaKea1288 revealed the Batmobile on a transporter with a noticeable dent, suggesting the vehicle endures a significant hit during the film. Additional footage from TikTok user luluowl_ also captured the car being unloaded on Glasgow’s St Vincent Street, providing fans with an early glimpse before filming officially commenced.

This footage confirms that the vehicle hasn’t undergone significant changes since 2022’s ‘The Batman,’ aligning with the sequel’s tight in-universe timeline, as only weeks or months are expected to have elapsed since the events of the first film. Reeves has hinted that this chapter will delve deeper into Bruce Wayne’s character rather than solely focusing on his vigilante persona, a shift stemming from a desire to move beyond the origin-story elements already explored in the first film.

The ongoing Glasgow shoot spans a three-week period across several key locations, including the Broomielaw, Glasgow Bridge, Kingston Bridge, North Street, and the National Cycle Route along the River Clyde. This follows earlier filming in Liverpool, with Pinewood’s Leavesden facility serving as the primary base throughout the shoot.

Robert Pattinson reprises his role as Batman alongside Scarlett Johansson, Colin Farrell, Sebastian Stan, Andy Serkis, Jeffrey Wright, and Charles Dance, with the film currently set to hit theaters on October 1, 2027. Given the excitement surrounding each new set photo, it’s evident that fans are treating this production like a real-time scavenger hunt, and Sneddon’s latest images have only heightened anticipation for what’s to come.
