Marvel Unveils LEGO Recreation of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Trailer
Marvel Studios has consistently transformed its blockbuster films into merchandising spectacles, and ‘Avengers: Doomsday‘ is no different. With record-breaking cast announcements and a buzzworthy CinemaCon teaser that fans could only describe through word of mouth, excitement for the Russo Brothers’ crossover has been mounting for months.
The anticipation surged further when the film’s official trailer was released, amassing hundreds of millions of views within its first day online. Featuring a cast that includes the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the Thunderbolts, and a returning wave of original ‘X-Men’ stars, there’s no shortage of footage for fans to analyze frame by frame.
Now, Marvel and LEGO have provided fans with a brand new way to experience it. The complete ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ trailer has been recreated shot-for-shot in LEGO form, as revealed by IGN, marking the LEGO Group’s latest promotional effort for the film.
The LEGO version draws heavily from the existing Doomsday lineup, incorporating minifigures and set pieces from the upcoming 76347 Quinjet and 76352 New Avengers Tower sets, along with figures from the 846-piece 76348 Epic Battle set. This last set features a large brick-constructed Sentinel, the towering mutant-hunting robots that play a significant role in the film’s X-Men-focused scenes.
What makes this recreation particularly intriguing for collectors is what it hints at beyond the confirmed sets. The video showcases several brand-new minifigure designs that haven’t been seen in any officially announced Doomsday products yet, including Namor, a sponsor-covered Red Guardian, a casually dressed Steve Rogers, U.S. Agent, and Ghost. It remains uncertain whether these characters will eventually receive their own standalone sets.
Some other figures featured in the trailer, such as Ant-Man and Shang-Chi, are reused designs from previous LEGO Marvel releases rather than new creations. Nevertheless, seeing the entire ensemble assembled in brick form provides fans with their clearest glimpse yet at the expansive roster of this crossover.
For those eager to own a piece of the film rather than just admire it in plastic, LEGO has confirmed a series of Doomsday-themed sets set to launch this fall. The Doctor Doom Bust will be available first on September 1, followed by the Quinjet, Epic Battle Sentinel set, and New Avengers Tower, all arriving on October 4.
The New Avengers Tower set alone includes six minifigures, featuring Doctor Doom, Yelena, Red Guardian, Bucky Barnes, Human Torch, and Sentry, suggesting that this headquarters will play a pivotal role in the film’s storyline. Meanwhile, the Epic Battle set’s massive Sentinel indicates that the X-Men’s mutant-hunting adversaries will significantly impact the plot when ‘Doomsday’ finally hits theaters.
While nothing can replace the authentic trailer experience, for a fanbase that has been eagerly exchanging secondhand descriptions and fan-made recreations of Doomsday footage for months, an official LEGO version serves as a fitting bridge between merchandising excitement and full-blown movie marketing. It also presents keen-eyed fans with a new set of clues to analyze ahead of the film’s release.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is poised to assemble one of the largest ensemble casts in franchise history when it debuts in theaters on December 18. With the original ‘X-Men’ cast returning, the Fantastic Four making their live-action debut, and Robert Downey Jr. surprising fans as Doctor Doom, there’s a lot riding on this crossover to meet the expectations that LEGO’s brick-built trailer has only amplified.
