Nike Unveils ‘One Piece’ Devil Fruits Collection and Sneakerheads Are Excited
Anime and streetwear have been merging for years, but few franchises generate the kind of excitement that ‘One Piece’ does. With over a thousand episodes and a fanbase that spans generations, the Straw Hat Pirates have already collaborated with everything from skate decks to fast food, demonstrating that the brand’s reach knows no bounds.
That collaborative energy has been building for months. Nike’s .SWOOSH division teased a mysterious project, dropping hints about fiery powers and rubbery limbs, which had fans guessing about which aspect of the ‘One Piece’ universe the brand would explore.
Now, the wait is over. Nike has officially launched a complete ‘One Piece’ collection featuring three Air Max Plus colorways, each inspired by a different Devil Fruit from the series. The Gomu Gomu no Mi, Ope Ope no Mi, and Mera Mera no Mi each receive their own unique design, translating the fruits’ extraordinary powers into entirely reimagined uppers rather than mere recolors.

The Gomu Gomu pair embraces Monkey D. Luffy’s rubber powers with a blend of space purple, atomic green, and sport red. The Mera Mera colorway captures its fiery essence through vibrant orange, kumquat, and solar flare shades, while the Ope Ope version opts for a darker palette with very berry, jade, and deep green tones inspired by the fruit’s surgical “ROOM” ability. Each pair features a Nike-branded Jolly Roger emblem stitched onto the tongue, paying homage to Luffy’s iconic flag.
The collection extends beyond footwear. Nike is also launching a matching apparel line that includes jerseys, T-shirts, and caps, featuring designs that reinterpret classic Nike advertising in a manga art style, alongside a vest adorned with the same Jolly Roger branding.

Nick Remlinger, Nike’s general manager of Energy Gaming, discussed the inspiration behind merging the anime’s power fantasy with Nike’s identity. He noted that the collection reflects the superhuman abilities that ‘One Piece’ characters gain from eating Devil Fruits, comparing it to the exhilarating feeling athletes experience when they wear Nikes. Remlinger hinted at more surprises to come as the collection unfolds, leaving the possibility open for additional releases.
As for acquiring a pair, the process is quite intricate. A Tokyo pop-up event kicks off from September 4 to 6, with prices in Japan around $172. Following this, additional pop-up events will take place in Hong Kong, Seoul, Shanghai, Jakarta, Mexico City, and Taipei on September 12, before a broader release in London, Milan, Amsterdam, Madrid, and various U.S. cities on September 19. A global launch through Nike SNKRS is set for September 25, with U.S. retail pricing at $180 per pair.
Each colorway will have different access methods. The Gomu Gomu pair will utilize a SNKRS poll system starting August 23, while the Mera Mera and Ope Ope colorways will be available only at select retailers in specific regions, meaning not every fan will have equal access to every design.
Given the rapid sell-out rates of recent anime collaborations, from the Yu-Gi-Oh! Air Max 95 line to other recent ‘One Piece’ tie-ins, it’s reasonable to expect these Devil Fruit-inspired pairs won’t last long on shelves. With their unique designs, regional exclusivity, and the extensive apparel line, Nike appears to be treating this as more than just a simple colorway drop, but rather a full-scale crossover event.
