‘Ted Lasso’ Season 4 Introduces Roy Kent’s Unexpected Love Interest Laura Haddock
‘Ted Lasso‘ Season 4 has focused on rebuilding AFC Richmond around the women’s team, but it also continues to explore the life of its emotionally guarded veteran, Roy Kent. His love life, still intertwined with Keeley Jones after years of ups and downs, has emerged as one of the season’s most intriguing storylines.
This narrative takes an unexpected turn when Keeley encourages Roy to go on 10 dates before he can reconnect with her. This forces him to approach dating as a checklist rather than an experience to enjoy. True to his character, Roy attempts to rush through the process, jamming multiple dates into one chaotic night.
However, his plan unravels in Episode 4, titled “Greyhounds’ Day Off,” when a flare-up of his old knee injury during a date with a bartender sends him to the hospital. There, he meets Dr. Erin Beaumont, a friend of his sister Jenni, who reluctantly agrees to treat him as a favor and immediately challenges him instead of coddling him.
Erin stands out as she isn’t one of Keeley’s ten arranged dates. She addresses Roy’s injury and ego with a refreshing bluntness that catches him off guard, brushing aside his usual gruff demeanor without being intimidated.
By the end of their appointment, Roy finds himself asking for her number, marking a subtle yet significant change for a character who has spent most of the season trying to assert that he knows exactly what he wants.
Laura Haddock plays Erin Beaumont, an actress familiar to ‘Ted Lasso’ fans. She previously portrayed Lucrezia Donati in Starz’s ‘Da Vinci’s Demons’ and appeared as Meredith Quill, Peter Quill’s mother, in the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ films.

Her impressive resume also includes roles such as Vivian Wembley in ‘Transformers: The Last Knight,’ Myrna Dalgleish in ‘Downton Abbey: A New Era,’ and Zoe Walker in the Netflix thriller ‘White Lines.’ Haddock trained at the Arts Educational School in Chiswick after being encouraged to pursue acting by a former actress teacher, landing television roles in the late 2000s on shows like ‘Agatha Christie’s Marple.’
Currently, ‘Ted Lasso’ has only scratched the surface of this new dynamic. Roy’s connection with Erin emerges just as Keeley’s dating challenge starts to feel less like a punishment and more like a genuine effort to encourage him to embrace the unexpected.
Whether Erin becomes a significant romantic chapter for Roy, a supportive presence during his recovery, or merely a fleeting encounter remains to be seen. Apple TV has confirmed that Season 4 consists of 10 episodes, running through October 7, providing ample opportunity for the show to explore the depth of this new relationship.
This development adds a fitting complication to a season already juggling various complicated love lives, from Roy and Keeley’s unresolved history to Coach Beard’s unraveling marriage to Jane. Erin’s introduction adds yet another layer to a Richmond squad that is still navigating its personal lives alongside its performance on the pitch.
