Marvel Unveils First Trailer for ‘Countdown to Avengers: Doomsday’ Podcast Hosted by Iman Vellani

Marvel Studios continues to build excitement as ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ approaches, and with several months to go, the studio is finding new ways to engage fans. This time, they are sending two familiar faces on a nostalgic journey through the franchise’s most significant moments.

The outcome is a new companion series aimed at guiding audiences through the films that paved the way for Doctor Doom’s arrival. This series combines nostalgia with a countdown clock that fans have been eagerly watching. While Marvel has utilized this format before, the choice of hosts is what is generating considerable buzz.

The series is the ‘Countdown to Avengers: Doomsday’ Official Podcast, hosted by Frank Alvarez and Iman Vellani, with the first trailer now available online ahead of the show’s premiere. This five-episode series will revisit key entries in the Infinity Saga, progressing chronologically toward ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ itself.

Alvarez, known for co-hosting the comedy podcast ‘The Basement Yard,’ will lead the rewatch alongside Vellani, who is best known as Kamala Khan, or Ms. Marvel. Together, they will recap major story arcs from each film while exploring the lasting cultural impact these movies have had on the broader franchise.

The films featured include ‘The Avengers,’ ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron,’ ‘Captain America: Civil War,’ ‘Avengers: Infinity War,’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ with one episode dedicated to each. Rather than merely recapping, the hosts are expected to delve into character developments and thematic elements that may carry over into ‘Doomsday.’

The timing of the rollout seems intentional. The fifth and final episode, focusing on ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ is set to coincide with the theatrical re-release of ‘Avengers: Endgame Encore’ on September 25, providing Marvel with a coordinated nostalgia boost as fall approaches.

Fans can watch the podcast on Disney+ and Marvel’s YouTube channel, with an audio-only version also available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other major platforms. The first episode is set to premiere on August 27, with new episodes released weekly thereafter.

Vellani’s participation has sparked curiosity among fans for reasons beyond her hosting role. She has previously appeared in the MCU in ‘Ms. Marvel,’ ‘The Marvels,’ and the ‘Marvel Zombies’ spin-off, leading to speculation about her potential involvement in the ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ cast, although Marvel has not officially confirmed her role in the film.

This uncertainty adds another layer of intrigue to the podcast’s launch, with fans speculating whether the show might drop subtle hints about her character’s future.
