LEGO Launches Gothic ‘Wednesday’ Backpack Set with Real Storage Features and Price
‘Wednesday‘ has established itself as more than just a one-season streaming hit, and its merchandise line is expanding alongside its cultural impact. LEGO’s collaboration with the Netflix sensation is set to grow again, offering fans of Wednesday Addams a new way to incorporate the show into their personal spaces.
The Danish toy company has been developing a dedicated ‘Wednesday’ collection over the past couple of years, previously releasing sets inspired by Thing’s apartment and Morticia’s cottage. This lineup is now being enhanced with two new builds that capture various aspects of Wednesday’s life at Nevermore Academy.
The highlight of this new wave is the 76787 Wednesday Backpack, a 401-piece set priced at 39.99 euros, scheduled for release on October 1, just in time for Halloween. This build recreates Wednesday’s iconic black backpack, featuring a functional opening that reveals a miniature dorm room inside.

In addition to its aesthetic appeal, the set is designed with practicality in mind. The top of the backpack opens to reveal a small photo holder and dorm room details, while the front section features two separate storage compartments for kids to store small personal items like rings, bracelets, or trinkets.
The set is primarily black with purple and silver-gray accents, perfectly matching Wednesday’s iconic style from the show. Flowers climbing the sides of the backpack add a touch of gothic romance to the otherwise dark design, and the build includes a Wednesday minidoll figure along with a Thing figure on a tiny roller skate.

In addition to the backpack, LEGO is also launching 76788 Nevermore Academy on the same day, an 890-piece microscale model of Wednesday’s school priced at 69.99 euros. This set marks a significant milestone for the collection, introducing the first-ever standard LEGO Wednesday minifigure alongside smaller statue-style figures of Wednesday and her roommate Enid Sinclair.

Both sets are designed for builders aged nine and up, emphasizing functionality as much as fandom, and they can serve as gothic bedroom decor once the building process is complete. LEGO has also integrated compatibility with its Builder app into both sets, allowing kids to follow along with 3D digital instructions, rotate models on screen, and track their building progress.
The timing aligns perfectly with the show’s enduring popularity, as ‘Wednesday’ set Netflix’s record for the highest first-week viewership for an English-language series upon its debut in 2022 and has continued to attract viewers since. This sustained interest has clearly convinced LEGO that there is still a strong demand for expanding the collection years after the show first premiered.
With Halloween on the horizon and two new sets being released simultaneously, fans of the series now have an exciting reason to add another piece of Nevermore Academy to their collections. Whether builders are drawn to the practical backpack storage or the intricate school microbuild, both sets provide a great entry point into Wednesday’s uniquely dark corner of the LEGO lineup.
